OSHA Hearing Tomorrow"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"firstcharacter\">I<\/span>f you have an hour or two on your hands tomorrow morning, I will be testifying at the hearing by the House Education and Workforce Committee, Subcommittee on Workforce Protections, titled\u00a0 \u201cReclaiming OSHA\u2019s Mission: Ensuring Safety Without Overreach.\u201d\u00a0 The hearing will begin at 10:15 am.<\/p>\n<p>This will be the first hearing addressing OSHA and workplace safety since the beginning of the Trump Administration.<\/p>\n<p>I will be the only Democratic witness, going up against Republican witnesses Felicia Watson (Littler Mendelson), Ben Tresselt (Arborist Enterprises) and Scott Parson (Americas Materials).<\/p>\n<p><em>Spoiler Alert<\/em>: My message will be that if you are actually interested in reclaiming OSHA&#8217;s mission, you don&#8217;t cut OSHA&#8217;s budget and refuse to restore the positions of OSHA staff that have taken advantage of early retirement offers.<\/p>\n<p>Also no one knowledgeable about OSHA&#8217;s small size, few resources and legal and resource constraints on its ability to issue standards in a reasonable period of time would complain about OSHA &#8220;overreach&#8221; with a straight face.<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re in the neighborhood, come on down to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aoc.gov\/explore-capitol-campus\/buildings-grounds\/house-office-buildings\/rayburn\">Rayburn Building<\/a>, Room 2175, tomorrow morning, or you can watch the hearing live by clicking below.\u00a0 And you can download all of the testimony <a href=\"https:\/\/edworkforce.house.gov\/calendar\/eventsingle.aspx?EventID=412442\">here<\/a> tomorrow morning.<\/p>\n<p>If you somehow have better things to do tomorrow morning, the hearing will be archived to watch later.<\/p>\n<p>A fun time will be had by all.
