The home blew up about 10 minutes later, the published report said.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"node-title\">Man dies in Becker County trench collapse<\/h3>\n<div class=\"node-body\">\n<p>Park Rapids, MN &#8212; A man<a href=\"http:\/\/www.lehighvalleylive.com\/news\/index.ssf\/2017\/07\/ugi_worker_killed_in_pa_home_e.html\"> trapped in a collapsed trench<\/a> at a farm near here died Friday, June 30, Becker County Sheriff Todd Glander said in a news release. A 911 call on the incident was received by the sheriff\u2019s department about 12:53 p.m., Glander said. When emergency personnel arrived at the Callaway Township farm, they found the victim\u2019s co-workers trying to free the man. Despite lifesaving efforts, <strong>Donovan Leonard Weber,<\/strong> 25, Ogema, was pronounced dead at the scene, Glander said.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"entry-title\">In an instant, molten slag gushed over workers at Tampa Electric power plant<\/span><\/h3>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<p>APOLLO BEACH, FL \u2014 It was the kind of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tampabay.com\/news\/publicsafety\/investigation-continues-into-explosion-at-tampa-electric-co-plant-that\/2328965\">job that workers at the Big Bend power plant do routinely<\/a>, and one done countless times in the nearly 35 years that senior plant operator <strong>Michael McCort<\/strong> had worked at Tampa Electric. About 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Moreno and Officer Julio Cavazos approached two men near a car that appeared to have been broken into in the 200 block of West Evergreen Street near San Antonio College, Police Chief William McManus said. Moreno and Cavazos had just exited their cruiser when one of the men, later identified as Andrew C. The National Transportation Safety Board, which is investigating the crash, said\u00a0the two men \u2014 a conductor and a conductor trainee \u2014 had gotten off their freight train after a detector that looks for abnormalities was triggered, indicating that something was wrong with the wheels.<\/p>\n<h3>Construction Worker Killed When Tree Falls on Him<\/h3>\n<p>Belfair, WA &#8212; <strong>Brian Mattis<\/strong> was using an excavator to dig up the root system of a large tree, and the tree fell on the excavator cab, crushing him. The cause of death was asphyxia due to crushing of the chest. (Source: Washington L&amp;I report)<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"entry-title\">Manley Meats reopens after workplace accident<\/h3>\n<p>ADAMS Co., Ind. \u00a0&#8212; \u00a0Manley Meats Inc.\u00a0in Monroe will reopen Thursday morning. The company closed the store on June 22 <a href=\"http:\/\/wane.com\/2017\/06\/28\/manley-meats-to-reopen-after-workplace-accident\/\">after a workplace accident left one man dead<\/a> and another man in critical condition. <strong>Justin Manley<\/strong> was pronounced dead at the scene while Mark Manley was airlifted to a Fort Wayne hospital. Mark has since gone home, according to the company\u2019s Facebook page. \u00a0Emergency crews were called to the business around 3:35 p.m. Wednesday, June 21. According to Sheriff Shane Rekeweg, the two men were pulled from a pit by members of the Monroe Fire Department. Adams County Coroner Leslie Cook said the two were working on a sewer pit when one or both became unresponsive. \u00a0An autopsy determined Justin Manley, 40, died from asphyxia due to drowning caused by hydrogen sulfide gas toxicity.<\/p>\n<header>\n<h3 class=\"title\">Construction worker dies after being struck by lightning<\/h3>\n<p class=\"title\">PEMBROKE PINES, Fla.\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">&#8212;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"> A construction worker who was<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/construction-worker-dies-after-being-struck-by-lightning\/\"> struck by lightning<\/a> while working in Florida has died,\u00a0<\/span>CBS Miami reports<span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">. \u00a0<\/span>Authorities say lightning struck around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday while workers laid rebar for the new Pines City Center. <strong>Ted Scouten,<\/strong> 34, subsequently went into cardiac arrest. Coworkers performed CPR on the job site, but he succumbed to his injuries. \u00a0&#8220;His injuries were pretty significant,&#8221; said Pembroke Pines Fire Rescue Chief Ruben Troncoso. &#8220;It appears it might have been a direct hit. One of the medics on the scene reported that he noticed an entrance and exit wound, which can signify a direct hit, but it can also mean that it ricocheted off a metal object.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"entry-title\">Utah DWR employee dies in truck\u00a0rollover<\/h3>\n<\/header>\n<p>SEVIER COUNTY, Utah \u2013 A rollover wreck has killed 31-year-old <strong>Jared Baker<\/strong>, a Utah Division of Wildlife Resources employee. According to the Sevier County Sheriff\u2019s Office, the single-vehicle crash happened on Monday around 2:40 p.m. at\u00a01190 N. State St. in Sigurd, Utah.<\/p>\n<header>\n<h3 class=\"title\">Worker killed cleaning hot tub in Texas<\/h3>\n<p class=\"title\">FORT WORTH, Texas &#8212;\u00a0An apartment maintenance worker who was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/worker-killed-cleaning-hot-tub-in-texas\/\">cleaning a hot tub<\/a> at an apartment complex was electrocuted Monday afternoon,\u00a0CBS DFW reports<span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">.\u00a0<\/span><strong>Christopher Asing,<\/strong> 25, was cleaning the spa at the Summer Brook Apartments in Fort Worth, Texas, when the accident happened, according to Officer Daniel Segura. Asing&#8217;s co-worker told firefighters that Asing was near a pump after they had cut power to it. But when the co-worker turned the power back on, he heard Asing scream in pain, then found him unresponsive in a nearby canal. Asing was taken to Medical City Alliance hospital, where he was pronounced dead.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"newstitle\">Arkansas Truck Driver Killed After Semi Strikes Bridge and Explodes In Flames<\/h3>\n<p>Jonesboro, AR &#8212; On Tuesday, an Arkansas truck driver tragically lost his life after his\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/truckingindustry.news\/1024\/truck-driver-charged-in-death-of-cyclist-crushed-by-shipping-container.html\">semi struck a concrete overpass<\/a>\u00a0structure and burst into flames. The driver has been identified as 57-year-old <strong>Jackie Becker<\/strong> of Jonesboro, AR. He was employed as a driver for YRC Worldwide and was on the job Tuesday morning, delivering a load of freight from Memphis and to Kansas City. At around 8:55 am, Becker was traveling northbound on Interstate 555 and was about to cross under the Harrisburg Road overpass when he swerved off the road to the right side and crashed into the concrete column.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"\">Murder at Culver&#8217;s hits home for business owner<\/h3>\n<p>MADISON, WI &#8212; The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wkow.com\/story\/35765115\/2017\/06\/27\/murder-at-culvers-hits-home-for-business-owner\">homicide at Culver&#8217;s<\/a> on Tuesday rattled the nerves of one business owner who knows what it feels like to stare down the barrel of a gun. \u00a0&#8220;At first, it&#8217;s just a shock,&#8221; said Richard Fitzgerald, the owner of the Rosati&#8217;s Pizza shop on Madison&#8217;s east side. \u00a0His restaurant has been robbed twice. Police say four workers were remodeling part of the restaurant during the overnight hours when two masked men stormed in. One of the robbers held the four contractors at gunpoint while the other suspect spent 45 minutes breaking into a safe. \u00a0Once the safe was open, one of the contractors suffered a medical emergency, according to Madison police. Chief Mike Koval said the suspect who held the men at gunpoint did not allow anyone to help the worker or call 911. The worker died at the scene.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"post-title\">Longtime DOH engineer killed in I-79 double fatal crash<\/h3>\n<p class=\"post-title\">CLENDENIN, W.Va.<span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">\u00a0\u2014 A 25-year <a href=\"http:\/\/wvmetronews.com\/2017\/06\/28\/2-killed-in-i-79-accident-in-kanawha-county\/\">DOH engineer was killed Tuesday<\/a> when the state truck he was riding in on Interstate 79 south of Clendenin was T-boned by an SUV being driven by a Kanawha County woman, who also died, authorities said.\u00a0<\/span><strong>Glen Lough<\/strong>, 47, of Fraziers Bottom, and two other workers were heading back to the DOH\u2019s Division 1 offices in Charleston at around 4:40 p.m. Tuesday when an SUV, driven by Edna Martin Gallian, 80, of Clendenin, came from the northbound lanes and slammed into the southbound DOH vehicle.<\/p>\n<h3>Niles man killed in industrial accident<\/h3>\n<p>NILES, IN \u2014 A Niles man was<a href=\"http:\/\/www.southbendtribune.com\/news\/publicsafety\/niles-man-killed-in-industrial-accident\/article_66254506-5b58-11e7-9c70-4bf3c69aed37.html\"> killed in an industrial accident<\/a> early Tuesday.According to a report from Niles police, officers received a 911 call around 5:15 a.m. Tuesday reported a man had been run over by a semi truck. Officers and other first responders went to Paragon Tempered Glass, 1830 Terminal Road, and found that <strong>Dennis Cobb,<\/strong> 64, had been run over by the rear wheels of a semi tractor. Through an investigation, officers learned Cobb was in the process of moving an empty trailer from the loading dock and apparently fell from the cab of the semi tractor. He was then caught under the rear wheels of the semi tractor. Cobb was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"article-title\">Police Identify Truck Driver Killed on I-65 Near Seymour<\/h3>\n<p>SEYMOUR, Ind.\u00a0&#8212; Indiana State Police have identified the man <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wibc.com\/news\/local-news\/police-identify-truck-driver-killed-i-65-near-seymour\">killed in an early-morning crash<\/a> on I-65 near Seymour. ISP says 65-year-old <strong>James Foster<\/strong>, of Louisville, hit a parked INDOT dump truck that was parked in the right-hand, southbound lane of I-65 early Tuesday morning. Foster lost control of his semi and it overturned. He died of his injuries before emergency workers arrived. The INDOT dump truck was parked in the right southbound lane, blocking traffic while workers repaired an overpass. The truck&#8217;s yellow and red warning lights were on and flashing, as was a nearby flashing arrow sign.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"page-title\" class=\"title\">Man Dies from Electrocution While Fixing Conveyor System<\/h3>\n<div id=\"block-system-main\" class=\"block block-system block-main block-system-main odd block-without-title\">\n<div class=\"block-inner clearfix\">\n<div class=\"content clearfix\">\n<article id=\"node-news-item-57585\" class=\"node node-news-item node-published node-not-promoted node-not-sticky author-jforrester odd clearfix\">\n<div class=\"content clearfix\">\n<p>Auburndale, FL &#8212; A 33-year-old worker at a Florida distillery <a href=\"http:\/\/www.powderbulksolids.com\/news\/Man-Dies-from-Electrocution-While-Fixing-Conveyor-System-06-27-2017\">died Wednesday night <\/a>while performing repairs on a conveyor belt system <a href=\"http:\/\/www.powderbulksolids.com\/news\/Man-Dies-from-Electrocution-While-Fixing-Conveyor-System-06-27-2017\">after he received an electric shock,<\/a> the\u00a0<em>Associated Press<\/em>\u00a0and numerous local news organizations reported. Identified as <strong>Aaron Rowe,<\/strong> the worker was shocked as he worked to restore power to a conveyor belt\u2019s motor at the Florida Caribbean Distillers production facility in Auburndale, FL, and was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead about an hour later, the\u00a0<em>Lakeland Ledger<\/em>\u00a0reported. Officials told the newspaper that although the man appeared to have shut off power to the conveyor belt system, the motor was live and a lock out system to stop energy flowing to it was installed on an incorrect circuit breaker.<\/p>\n<h3>Man Dies, Struck by Roller<\/h3>\n<p>Everett, WA &#8212; <strong>Robert L. Fruhling\u00a0<\/strong>was operating on a construction site a Compact Roller and fell from the operator&#8217;s seat and was struck by the roller.
