MARTINSBURG, NY \u2014 A worker at Lewis County\u2019s largest dairy died from injuries suffered in a farm accident<\/a> Sunday morning. State police said Ryan C. Ouelette<\/strong>, 32, Lowville, was tending to a large integrity manure separator at Marks Farms, 6314 Cannan Road, when, for an unknown reason, his head became trapped by the roller inside the machine. He was found trapped in the machine 20 to 30 minutes later by a co-worker and was eventually freed from the equipment, police said.<\/p>\n

Piscataway police say the 20-year-old man was working on the roof of a warehouse on River Road when the accident occurred shortly after 8 a.m. Sunday. Van Horn, TX — A U.S. Border Patrol agent was killed in the line of duty<\/a> Sunday while patrolling the Big Bend Sector of Texas along the southern border with Mexico.\u00a0Agent Rogelio Martinez<\/strong>, 36, died of injuries sustained while responding to \u201cactivity\u201d near Interstate 10 in the Van Horn Station area,\u00a0according to a news release\u00a0from U.S. Customs and Border Protection.<\/p>\n

Barcelona Wine Bar employee killed during robbery at\u00a0restaurant<\/h3>\n

Atlanta, GA — An employee of Barcelona Wine Bar Westside was\u00a0shot and killed during a robbery at early Sunday morning, and three suspects are on the run, according to police.\u00a0Chelsea Beller<\/strong>, 29, of Atlanta was shot in the shoulder after being forced to open a safe in the upstairs part of the restaurant, located in the Westside Ironworks development at 1085 Howell Mill Road, police said. She was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where she later died of her injuries.<\/p>\n

60-year-old man killed after becoming trapped while installing cesspool on Long\u00a0Island<\/h3>\n

SHOREHAM, N.Y. \u2014 A man was killed after becoming trapped underground<\/a> while installing a cesspool in Shoreham Saturday morning, Suffolk County Police said. Kurt Peiscopgrau<\/strong>, 60, of Northport, was working with a crew to install a cesspool at a home located on Josephine Boulevard in Shoreham, N.Y.\u00a0 While working underground to install the cesspool, the ground gave way, trapping Peiscopgrau under the rubble, at approximately 11:25 a.m., police said.<\/p>\n

Worker crushed to death by steel rack, cables at plant<\/h3>\n

BARTOW, Fla. (AP) \u2014\u00a0<\/span>Authorities say a worker was crushed to death by a steel rack and cables<\/a> at a Florida plant. The Ledger reports that 26-year-old Jose Guadalupe Bustos<\/strong> was pinned beneath 12 tons of metal Nov. 10 at the Metromont Corp. plant in Bartow, which specializes in making precast concrete structures. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office says Bustos had been operating a ceiling crane by a handheld remote when a hook caught a steel cable coil, tilting over the rack.<\/p>\n

PA — Pennsylvania\u00a0residents who came to the aid of a rookie police officer who was fatally shot and killed during a traffic stop say he was “gasping for air” and not responsive when they arrived at the scene.\u00a0Brian Shaw<\/strong> was shot in the chest around 8:15 p.m. Friday in New Kensington, about 18 miles (29 kilometers) northeast of Pittsburgh. The shooting occurred during a foot chase that began shortly after the traffic stop took place.<\/p>\n

Man dies trying to stop carjacking in Coral Gables<\/h3>\n

Coral Gables, FL — Witnesses told Coral Gables police officers that a robber\u00a0hopped into a van outside of the\u00a0Courtyard by Marriott at 2051 S. Le Jeune Road. The hotel employee quickly stepped in front of the van to try to stop him from leaving, but the robber ran him over<\/a>.\u00a0Coral Gables Police Department\u00a0officers were investigating the crime as a\u00a0hit-and-run incident, but when the man died the\u00a0Miami-Dade Police Department\u00a0took over the homicide investigation.<\/p>\n

The Columbus Dispatch reports that 51-year-old James Saffell<\/strong> was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident Thursday afternoon at a Thrift Stores of Ohio warehouse in Columbus. Central Kentucky highway worker killed in Louisville<\/h3>\n

LOUISVILLE, Ky. <\/span>\u00a0A central Kentucky highway worker was killed<\/a> in Louisville Thursday night after being hit by a car. The worker, identified as 55-year-old James Bland, Jr<\/strong>. of Versailles was part of a crew putting out cones on the road when he was hit around 8:15 p.m. Thursday on I-64 near the Watterson Expressway (I-264). Police said Bland died at the scene.Work zone fatalities in Kentucky have been on the rise since 2014, jumping from 4 to 7, to 10 last year. “He represents just one of many men and women who put their lives at risk to make sure we’re safe on the roads, so we really want to just acknowledge his sacrifice, and our condolences to him and his family.”<\/p>\n

Truck driver killed in crash with Muni bus on Hwy 101 in SF<\/h3>\n

San Francisco, CA — The driver of a dump truck died after colliding with a Muni bus on U.S. Highway 101 in San Francisco on Friday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol. The crash was reported at about 4 p.m. on southbound Highway 101 near the Cesar Chavez Street off-ramp, according to the CHP. The dump truck driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Five passengers on the Muni bus were injured but are expected to survive, CHP Officer Vu Williams said.<\/p>\n

Baltimore police detective shot in the head dies<\/h3>\n

BALTIMORE, MD \u2014 A Baltimore homicide detective died<\/a> Thursday less than 24 hours after he was shot in the head while working in a neighborhood of vacant lots and boarded-up row houses. At a news conference outside a hospital, Police Commissioner Kevin Davis told reporters that 43-year-old Sean Suiter<\/strong>, an 18-year veteran of the department, was pronounced dead shortly after noon. He had been on full life support at a hospital since getting shot once in the head by a gunman late Wednesday afternoon. Suiter was shot by a man he approached in a vacant lot in a particularly troubled area of West Baltimore, according to Davis. He and a partner, both dressed in suits as is standard for Baltimore detectives, were investigating a 2016 homicide that took place in the area. Davis said Suiter approached the man because he was “acting suspiciously.<\/p>\n
