Police said it was terrible incident and that weather may have been a factor. Cpl. Brett Wells said police got a call about a logging incident in the driveway of a private residence, which became site of a deadly accident Sunday afternoon. Wells said the victim, a 35-year-old Epsom man, had his own tree company and was clearing a lot about a mile behind a home on Middle Road. &#8220;He was by himself,\u201d Wells said. \u201cIt&#8217;s been an ongoing project for the last couple months. He was clearing a large lot for them. They were turning it into a field for their farm.&#8221; Police said the man was notching a tree when another tree he was working on was blown over by a strong gust of wind and hit him from behind. &#8220;Obviously, the wind was pretty high by the time we found him, so it seems to be that might be what happened,\u201d Wells said.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"story-headline0\" data-article-id=\"296251684\" data-article-version=\"1.0\">1 dead, 1 injured in construction accident in SW Charlotte<\/h3>\n<p>CHARLOTTE, NC\u00a0-A construction worker died and another was seriously injured in an industrial accident in southwest Charlotte Sunday afternoon, police say.The accident happened on the construction site for the Staples Distribution Center\u00a0in the 3700 block of Westinghouse Boulevard by Choate Construction.\u00a0According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fox46charlotte.com\/news\/local-news\/crews-responding-to-industrial-accident-in-sw-charlotte\">two people fell about 40 feet while working on the site.<\/a> Both were taken to Carolinas Medical Center Main where the first victim was pronounced deceased. The second victim is now stable.<\/p>\n<header class=\"article-header \"><\/header>\n<div class=\"article-head\">\n<h3 class=\"headline\">Marks Farms worker dies from injuries suffered in farm accident<\/h3>\n<div id=\"article_main_body\" class=\"article_body p402_premium\">\n<p>MARTINSBURG, NY\u00a0 \u2014 A worker at Lewis County\u2019s largest dairy <a href=\"http:\/\/www.watertowndailytimes.com\/news04\/marks-farms-worker-dies-from-injuries-suffered-in-farm-accident-20171120\">died from injuries suffered in a farm accident<\/a> Sunday morning. State police said <strong>Ryan C. Ouelette,<\/strong> 32, Lowville, was tending to a large integrity manure separator at Marks Farms, 6314 Cannan Road, when, for an unknown reason, his head became trapped by the roller inside the machine. He was found trapped in the machine 20 to 30 minutes later by a co-worker and was eventually freed from the equipment, police said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h3 class=\"headline\">Teen delivery worker killed in bike crash in Brooklyn<\/h3>\n<p>NEW YORK (AP) \u2014 A teenager making restaurant deliveries on his bicycle has been<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sfchronicle.com\/news\/article\/Teen-delivery-worker-killed-in-bike-crash-in-12384116.php\"> hit by a car and killed<\/a> in Brooklyn.Police say Sunday they&#8217;re continuing to investigate but so far don&#8217;t suspect any criminal behavior in the crash Saturday evening near the Park Slope neighborhood. Police say 14-year-old <strong>Edwin Ajacalon<\/strong> was riding east on 23rd Street when a BMW sedan hit him at the intersection of Fifth Avenue. He was unconscious when authorities arrived and was pronounced dead at a hospital.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h3 class=\"\">Safety practices questioned after 3rd FedEx employee accidentally killed<\/h3>\n<p>MEMPHIS, Tenn \u2014 A FedEx employee was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mycentraloregon.com\/2017\/11\/23\/fedex-worker-killed-in-accident-at-memphis-hub\/\">killed early Thursday morning at the shipper\u2019s hub<\/a> at Tennessee\u2019s Memphis International Airport while loading and unloading cargo from a Boeing 777, the company has confirmed to ABC News. Police were called to the airport shortly after 12:30 a.m. about an accidental injury, and found the dead female employee under a motorized conveyer belt system, ABC affiliate WATN reported. The employee\u2019s identity has not been released. \u201cWords cannot convey the sadness we feel over the loss of our team member in an accident at the Memphis hub,\u201d FedEx said in a statement. \u201cOur prayers are with our colleague\u2019s family, friends, and co-workers. We are cooperating with authorities in their investigation.\u201d This incident marks the third time in less than four years that a FedEx worker has been killed on the job.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"entry-title\">Suspect arrested after Texas trooper killed on the job<\/h3>\n<p>FAIRFIELD, Texas (AP) \u2014 A Texas state trooper was <a href=\"http:\/\/wjhl.com\/2017\/11\/25\/suspect-arrested-after-texas-trooper-killed-on-the-job\/\">shot and killed during a Thanksgiving traffic stop<\/a> in East Texas. The Texas Department of Public Safety released a statement on its Twitter account Thursday night identifying the trooper as<strong> Damon Allen<\/strong>, 41. DPS said Allen joined the department in 2002 and was married with three children. Allen was shot and killed before 4 p.m. Thursday during a traffic stop on Interstate 45 near Fairfield, about 90 miles (145 kilometers) south of Dallas, according to DPS. The department said Allen was shot with a rifle and died at the scene. The suspect then fled.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"asset-headline\">Police: Sumter Man Killed By Gunmen At Store<\/h3>\n<p>Sumter, SC (WLTX) Two armed gunman fired into a Sumter store and<a href=\"http:\/\/www.wltx.com\/news\/local\/police-sumter-man-killed-by-gunmen-at-store\/494518130\"> killed an employee<\/a>.\u00a0 Officers are working to identify two armed men who shot and killed an employee of a Manning Avenue store Friday night.\u00a0 Around 6:59 PM the two armed men entered the Save-Mart Grocery located on Manning Avenue wearing masks. One or both of the men began firing handguns in the direction\u00a0of the employee before fleeing the store in an unknown direction.\u00a0 \u00a0The employee died as a result of the gunshot wounds.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"headline\">Pencco worker dies in chemical tank explosion<\/h3>\n<div class=\"p402_premium\">\n<div class=\"body main-body clearfix\">\n<p class=\"_body-copy\">MIDDLESEX, NC \u2014 A chemical manufacturing company employee\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.wilsontimes.com\/stories\/man-dies-in-chemical-tank-explosion,105148\">died Friday in a tank explosion<\/a> that remains under investigation. Brent Fisher, assistant director of emergency management in Nash County, said firefighters heard an explosion around 9:30 a.m. and began canvassing the area for the source. An employee of Pencco reportedly was driving by the facility at 10143 U.S. 264 Alternate and called 911 when a tank explosion occurred, Fisher said. Pencco produces water treatment chemicals, and the explosion led emergency responders to call in a hazardous materials team from Wilmington. Fisher said a building inspector also responded to see whether a building damaged in the explosion is structurally sound.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h3 class=\"headline\">Family, friends salute procession carrying late nurse home<\/h3>\n<div class=\"body main-body clearfix\">\n<div class=\"subscriber-preview\">\n<p>TUPELO, MS \u2013 Former North Mississippi Medical Center chief flight nurse<strong> Jim Spruiell<\/strong> made his way back home to Sulligent, Alabama, Friday from Arkansas. Spruiell, 61, was one of three people who <a href=\"http:\/\/www.djournal.com\/news\/family-friends-salute-procession-carrying-late-nurse-home\/article_0152e0a7-0f5b-59b5-a80f-2eda89b0977d.html\">died in a medical helicopter crash <\/a>in rural Arkansas Nov. 19. The helicopter, which was operated by Pafford EMS and Air Methods, was en route from Pine Bluff, Arkansas, to DeWitt, Arkansas, when the crash occurred.<\/p>\n<h3>Truck Driver Killed In I-80 Crash In Berkeley<\/h3>\n<p>BERKELEY, CA \u2014 The driver of a semi was killed in Berkeley Friday morning <a href=\"https:\/\/patch.com\/california\/berkeley\/truck-driver-killed-i-80-crash-berkeley\">when a tire blew on his truck<\/a>, causing him to crash into a highway pillar on I-80. According to the CHP, the driver was thrown from his truck. He was taken to the hospital but later died from his injuries.<\/p>\n<h3>Officer killed during high speed pursuit<\/h3>\n<p>OAKLAND COUNTY, MI\u00a0 &#8212;\u00a0 A veteran police officer has been <a href=\"http:\/\/wincountry.com\/news\/articles\/2017\/nov\/24\/officer-killed-during-high-speed-pursuit\/\">killed in the line of duty<\/a>, while deploying stop-stick to try to blow out the tires of a young male suspect who was being chased by other officers. Dead is 50-year-old <strong>Deputy Eric Overall,<\/strong> who was struck by the 22-year-old fleeing suspect. Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard says they believe the suspect veered over to strike the Deputy.\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0The suspect lost control and rolled over and was arrested after he was freed from the wreckage.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"\">OSHA looking into fatal accident that killed Laurel man<\/h3>\n<p>BILLINGS, MT &#8211; The man who died Tuesday night in at the Knife River industrial site in Billings was identified Wednesday as <strong>Justin Cruea<\/strong>, 28, of Laurel, according to Yellowstone County Sheriff Mike Linder. In a statement, Linder said that Cruea, an employee for the contractor, was apparently <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kpax.com\/story\/36915224\/osha-looking-into-fatal-accident-that-killed-laurel-man\">working on a truck when he fell between the bumper and a tire<\/a>. His position after the fall likely made it difficult for him to breathe, and the preliminary cause of death is positional asphyxia, Linder said.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"headline\">Flint-area worker trapped under water in trench dies<\/h3>\n<p>BURTON, Mich. (AP) &#8211; Police say a 33-year-old Flint-area man has <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fox47news.com\/news\/local-news\/flint-area-worker-trapped-under-water-in-trench-dies\">died after being trapped underwater<\/a> for about 20 minutes when a water main burst during construction work. Burton Police Detective Don Schreiber tells\u00a0The Flint Journal\u00a0that 33-year-old <strong>Curtis Duane Hollingshead<\/strong> of Davisson died at a hospital Tuesday after the trench he was working in rapidly filled with water when a valve on a water main disconnected.\u00a0Police have said other workers were able to snag Hollingshead with a pole and pull him from the water. Medical personnel then were able to re-establish a pulse.<\/p>\n<header id=\"article__header\" class=\"article__header\">\n<h3 id=\"articleHeadline\" class=\"p-name\">Watertown city employee killed at wastewater treatment plant<\/h3>\n<\/header>\n<div id=\"article__story\" class=\"article__story\">\n<div id=\"entryContent\" class=\"entry-content\">\n<p>WATERTOWN, N.Y. &#8212; A city of Watertown employee was killed Monday evening while working at the city&#8217;s wastewater treatment plant,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.watertowndailytimes.com\/news03\/investigation-continues-in-accidental-death-of-watertown-city-worker-20171121\">according to the Watertown Daily Times.<\/a>The city identified the worker as\u00a0<strong>Gregory Eliopoulos<\/strong>, a process worker at the plant, according to the newspaper.<\/p>\n<h3><strong class=\"title\">Construction Worker Dies After Being Trapped In Streamwood Sewer Pipe<\/strong><\/h3>\n<div class=\"description\">Steamwood, IL &#8212; A construction worker died Wednesday night w<a href=\"http:\/\/chicago.cbslocal.com\/video\/3752081-construction-worker-dies-after-being-trapped-in-streamwood-sewer-pipe\/\">hen he became trapped in a manhole<\/a> in Streamwood while installing a new sewer lining. CBS 2&#8217;s Susanna Song reports.<\/div>\n<h3>Worker killed at coal ash dumpsite<\/h3>\n<div class=\"storytext-rail\">\n<div class=\"storytext\">\n<p>Rocky Mount, NC &#8212; A coal ash dumpsite undergoing environmental remediation in northeastern Nash County has been closed during a federal and state investigation into a worker\u2019s death earlier this week.\u00a0<strong>Gary Sigmon,<\/strong> 48, of Lincoln County, died Monday <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rockymounttelegram.com\/News\/2017\/11\/23\/Worker-killed-at-Nash-County-coal-ash-site.html\">after being run over by a bulldozer<\/a> at the Swift Creek Coal Combustion By-Product Structural Fill on U.S. 301 in the Battleboro community near Whitakers, according to the N.C. Department of Labor, which is investigating the incident. Sigmon was working as a spotter for dump trucks when the incident occurred, Department of Labor spokesman Jason Tyson told the Telegram on Wednesday morning. Sigmon realized a dump truck was dumping in the wrong location and went to stop it and ran into the path of a bulldozer.<\/p>\n<h3>Maintenance worker killed after woman drives onto sidewalk<\/h3>\n<div class=\"text\">\n<p class=\"p\">Atlanta, GA &#8212; A maintenance worker was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ajc.com\/news\/traffic\/breaking-pedestrian-killed-after-woman-drives-onto-sidewalk\/CrsiVDjhJpJI9a0ZxHBLLI\/\">killed Wednesday morning after a woman drove onto a Cobb County sidewalk<\/a>, officials said. The incident occurred shortly after 8 a.m. at Akers Mill Road and Galleria Drive, Cobb police spokesman Brody Staud said.\u00a0Police identified the victim as <strong>Joseph Poncer,<\/strong> 50, of Marietta. He was doing maintenance along the road at the time of the deadly accident, Channel 2 Action News reported.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"headline\">Maine Funeral Home Worker Killed in Hearse Crash<\/h3>\n<p class=\"paragraph\" data-pnum=\"1\">Greene, ME &#8212; State police say a funeral home employee transporting a body was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.necn.com\/news\/new-england\/Maine-Funeral-Home-Worker-Killed-in-Hearse-Crash-459318713.html\">killed when his hearse was hit from behind<\/a> by a sport utility vehicle. Police said the crash killed 59-year-old <strong>Richard Charest<\/strong> of Winthrop. It happened on Route 202 in Greene on Monday evening. Authorities said Charest was transporting the body back to the funeral home where he worked when the crash occurred. They say Charest and the body he was transporting remained inside the hearse after the crash.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<header class=\"entry-header\">\n<h3>Greeley oil field worker dies after pipeline\u00a0fire<\/h3>\n<p>GREELEY, Colo. \u2014 An oil field worker who was among three people injured in a <a href=\"http:\/\/kdvr.com\/2017\/11\/22\/greeley-oil-field-worker-dies-after-pipeline-fire\/\">gas pipeline fire<\/a> last week died Tuesday night, the Weld County Coroner\u2019s Office said. <strong>George Cottingham<\/strong>, 61 of Greeley, was taken to North Colorado Medical Center after the\u00a0fire about 10 miles east of Galeton on Thursday. The final manner and cause of his death are awaiting autopsy and laboratory results, the coroner\u2019s office said. One DCP Midstream employee and two contractors were\u00a0performing routine maintenance\u00a0when the fire broke out on a PDC Energy site. The workers were near a DCP pipeline at the time of the fire. Two company trucks also burned.\u00a0Investigators said the men, all employees of Northern Plains Trucking, were working on a gas buildup in a natural gas line owned by DCP Midstream at a well site owned by PDC Energy Inc.<\/p>\n<h3>Man says factory co-worker died in 2nd blast<\/h3>\n<p>NEW WINDSOR, N.Y. (AP) \u2014 The Latest on the explosions and fire at an upstate New York cosmetics factory <a href=\"http:\/\/www.westfieldrepublican.com\/page\/content.detail\/id\/2414469\/The-Latest--Man-says-factory-co-worker-died-in-2nd-blast.html?isap=1&amp;nav=5071\">that killed one person and injured more than 125 others<\/a>. A New York cosmetics factory employee who survived a workplace explosion says a co-worker was killed by a second blast that occurred after he had gone back inside to make sure everyone had evacuated. Juan Pablo Marcos says he was in a different part of the factory when the first explosion tore through Verla International on Monday morning. He says workers began running and screaming for everyone to get out. Marcos says an employee went back inside the New Windsor complex to see if anyone was left behind when a second explosion occurred about 25 minutes later. Police later identified him as 57-year-old <strong>William Huntington<\/strong>, of nearby Newburgh. More than 125 people were injured, including seven firefighters who were inside when the second blast erupted.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"newsStoryTitle\">Semi truck driver killed in Taylor County crash<\/h3>\n<p>PERRY, Fla. (WCTV) &#8212; The driver of a semi truck was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wctv.tv\/content\/news\/Semi-truck-driver-killed-in-Taylor-County-crash-459008443.html\">killed after his vehicle overturned and caught fire<\/a> Monday evening. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 6:20 p.m. on US-221 just south of Boyd Road in Taylor County. The crash report states that 36-year-old <strong>Bailey Heard<\/strong> of Pavo, Georgia, was driving south on US-221 when he traveled off of the roadway into the emergency lane and struck a guardrail.
