The death has been ruled an accident. According to police, an electrician apprentice was pinned between a piece of motorized equipment and a door frame around 10 a.m. The worker has been identified as 27-year-old <strong>Richard Louis Collett<\/strong>\u00a0of Dunedin. Collett was moving a fourteen-foot scissor lift out of the exit of a building when his head was trapped between the lift rail and the door frame, reportedly causing trauma to his head. Collett was discovered unresponsive by a coworker and he was pronounced dead at the scene at the arrival of paramedics. He was helping to provide renovations to an abandoned building. Collett\u00a0worked for Sunrise Electric of Pinellas and was doing sub-contractor work for Down Under Construction Services at the time of the incident.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<\/article>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h3 class=\"entry-title\">Maintenance employee dies in accident while working at Loveland Ski\u00a0Area<\/h3>\n<p>LOVELAND SKI AREA, Colo. \u2014 A maintenance employee <a href=\"http:\/\/kdvr.com\/2017\/12\/29\/employee-dies-in-accident-while-working-at-loveland-ski-area\/\">died while working at Loveland Ski Area<\/a> on Thursday morning. Officials said the employee, identified by family members as 40-year-old <strong>Adam Lee<\/strong>, was involved in an accident about 11 a.m. It did not say where the accident took place. The Clear Creek County Coroner\u2019s Office said an autopsy was scheduled for Saturday.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"headline entry-title\">Worker killed in car fire at Cupertino cement plant<\/h3>\n<p>Cupertino, CA &#8212; A worker at a cement plant in Cupertino died when he was trapped in a burning car after a collision at the facility Saturday morning, officials said. Reports of a vehicle collision and subsequent fire at the Lehigh Hanson Cement Plant on Stevens Creek Boulevard prompted Santa Clara County sheriff\u2019s officials and county firefighters to respond to the scene shortly after 9:30 a.m., Sgt. Ohio County Emergency Management Agency director Lou Vargo tells the Charleston Gazette-Mail the man died Thursday. He worked for a contractor for MarkWest Energy Partners, L.P. A trackhoe is a tracked vehicle with an excavating arm. Vargo says the victim and another worker were holding ropes attached to the suspended pipe to control its direction. A woman contacted security saying that she had been in a dispute with two men who kicked her out of the room, police said tonight. The security officers responded and were shot while inside the room. The room was registered to the woman. The female guard was armed, but did not draw her gun, police said. Police say a 911 call came in at 11 a.m. from one of the victims who was just breathing and could not talk. Someone walked in and opened fire hitting the two victims. A vendor who was also inside the gas station at the time took cover and was not hurt.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"newsStoryTitle\">Wichita company mourns loss of employee killed in Greenwood County semi crash<\/h3>\n<p>Wichita, KS &#8212; A Wichita company released a statement Thursday afternoon, mourning the loss of one of its employees, identified as one of two men <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kwch.com\/content\/news\/US-400-closed-in-Greenwood-County-due-to-double-semi-crash-466952173.html\">killed in the early-morning crash<\/a> involving two semis in Greenwood County. LDF Sales and Distributing says 35-year-old<strong> Darin Surridge<\/strong> shuttled cargo loads from the company&#8217;s main warehouse in Wichita to a satellite warehouse in Parsons.\u00a0The crash happened around 1:45 a.m. three miles east of Beaumont and 12 miles west of Severy. The Kansas Highway Patrol says a 2016 CMV Freightliner driven by <strong>Marcos Rodriguez-Reyes,<\/strong> of Wichita, was westbound on U400 when it went left of the center line and struck an eastbound 2017 CMV Kenworth driven by Darin Kyle Surridge, of Parsons, head-on.\u00a0 Both Rodriguez-Reyes and Surridge died in the crash.<\/p>\n<header class=\"article-header \">\n<h3 class=\"article-title p-name entry-title\">Worker killed during construction project in Florida<\/h3>\n<\/header>\n<div class=\"article-body e-content\">\n<div id=\"article-content\" class=\"article-content entry-content\">\n<p>PINELLAS PARK, Fla. (AP) \u2014 A man has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.seattletimes.com\/nation-world\/worker-killed-during-construction-project-in-florida\/\">died while operating heavy equipment<\/a> at a construction site in Florida. Pinellas Park police officials said in a news release that the man became trapped between the equipment and a door frame as he worked on a building near St. Petersburg on Thursday morning. He was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"newsStoryTitle\">Officials identify worker who died in Mishicot fall<\/h3>\n<p><span id=\"dateline\">MANITOWOC COUNTY, Wis. (WBAY) &#8211;<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>Officials have released the name of a man who <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wbay.com\/content\/news\/Worker-dies-after-falling-from-tower-in-Mishicot-467004513.html\">died after a fall from a steel tow<\/a>er in Mishicot. The Sheriff&#8217;s Office identified the victim as <strong>Richard Andrews,<\/strong> 31. At 9:22 a.m., emergency crews were called to Church Street for a report of a man who fell from a tower that is used for television antennas. A preliminary investigation found Andrews was installing equipment when he fell 35 feet to the ground. There were no further details about what precipitated the fall.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h3 class=\"headline\">Detroit police say marijuana dispensary where worker was killed operated illegally<\/h3>\n<p>DETROIT, MI (WXYZ) &#8211; Detroit Police are trying to find out who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wxyz.com\/news\/region\/detroit\/detroit-police-say-marijuana-dispensary-where-worker-was-killed-operated-illegally\">shot and killed<\/a> 28-year-old<strong> Brandon Beavers<\/strong> inside a marijuana dispensary on West Chicago at Appoline\u00a0Street on the city&#8217;s west side Wednesday.\u00a0 Beavers worked at the dispensary that police say was operating illegally and raided just last month on November 15. Beavers, a father to three young children, was found on the floor behind the counter. He had been shot to death and his body found at 5:40 pm.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"entry-title\">OKC firefighter dies on duty<\/h3>\n<p>Oklahoma City, OK &#8212; The Oklahoma City Fire Department is <a href=\"http:\/\/newsok.com\/article\/5577425\">mourning the loss<\/a> of one of its own. <strong>Lt. Jeffrey White<\/strong> died after experiencing what the department called a medical &#8220;episode&#8221;.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"article-title\">CORONER FINDS PORT OF WILMA MILL WORKER DIED OF HEAD, NECK INJURIES<\/h3>\n<p>PORT OF WILMA, WA &#8211; The 55-year-old Peck man who <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cdapress.com\/article\/20171228\/AP\/312289977\">died in an industrial accident<\/a> at Guy Bennett Lumber at the Port of Wilma suffered massive head and neck injuries, according to the Whitman County coroner.\u00a0<strong>Jeffrey Midstokke<\/strong> &#8220;fell approximately 16 feet from the area of debarker to a chain conveyor system, striking his head, transporting the decedent along the conveyor system until turned off by a metal detector,&#8221; according to the unofficial death record provided by coroner Peter J. Martin. Martin determined the manner of death was accidental. The incident occurred Dec. 20. Midstokke was pronounced dead at the scene when emergency crews arrived.<\/p>\n<div class=\"row\">\n<article>\n<header class=\"col-main-leafpage story-header\">\n<h3>Naked postal worker accused of killing bosses faces federal murder charges<\/h3>\n<\/header>\n<div class=\"col-main-leafpage\">\n<div class=\"story\">\n<div class=\"story-text\">\n<div class=\"text\">\n<p class=\"p\">Detroit, MI &#8212; A federal murder complaint filed today accused 24-year-old Deshaune Stewart of<a href=\"https:\/\/www.daytondailynews.com\/news\/crime--law\/one-dead-after-post-office-shooting-dublin-suspect-custody\/7chwByR19ABPDxaO5rMkEK\/\"> killing two U.S. government employees<\/a> for performing their official duties. Stewart, an apparently disgruntled postal worker, is accused of fatally shooting his supervisor Dec. 23 at the Dublin post office, and then slaying the Dublin postmaster at a Columbus apartment complex, our media partner WBNS-TV in Columbus reported. Authorities said Stewart was naked during both attacks. Stewart allegedly killed <strong>Lance Dempsey<\/strong>, 52, at the post office, and then three hours later Postmaster <strong>Ginger Ballard,<\/strong> 53, was found dead between two vehicles with blunt-force trauma to her head, WBNS reported.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"articleHeadline\" class=\"p-name\">Superintendent killed in tree trimming accident at golf course<\/h3>\n<p>THREE RIVERS, MI &#8212; Mendon Community Schools Superintendent <strong>Roger Rathburn<\/strong> fell from a ladder and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mlive.com\/news\/kalamazoo\/index.ssf\/2017\/12\/superintendent_killed_in_tree.html\">died while trying to trim trees<\/a> Tuesday at a nearby golf course, police say. Rathburn, 55, was on a ladder on Dec. 26, at the Sauganash Golf Course at 61270 Lutz Road, about two miles south of Three Rivers, when the incident occurred, they say. &#8220;Based on the investigation there, he was trimming trees along the golf course,&#8221; said Trooper John Hoffmeister. &#8220;He was on a ladder approximately 20 feet in the air cutting a larger tree limb down.&#8221; The trooper said Rathburn was on a metal, extendable ladder, using a chain saw. He was above the large tree limb that he was cutting. &#8220;At some point in the process, the limb that he was cutting struck the ladder,&#8221; Hoffmeister said. &#8220;As it was making its fall, it struck the ladder causing Mr. Rathburn to fall, with him striking the (golf) cart path.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"headline\">Officer killed as patrol car hit by drunken driver<\/h3>\n<p>SAN FRANCISCO, CA &#8211; A California Highway Patrol officer <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wsbtv.com\/news\/national\/hot-topics\/officer-killed-as-patrol-car-hit-by-drunken-driver\/669199125\">died after a drunken driver returning from a party slammed into the back of his parked patrol car<\/a> on a San Francisco Bay Area highway on Christmas Eve, the CHP said Monday. CHP <strong>Officer Andrew Camilleri<\/strong>, a 33-year-old married father of three children, was in the passenger seat of the CHP SUV on the shoulder of Interstate 880 in Hayward when the vehicle was struck, said Assistant Chief Ernest Sanchez. He was responding to a call regarding noxious fumes at the Chase Bank in Nyack when he fell ill after getting off of the fire truck. He complained of shortness of breath and chest pains before being taken to a hospital. The 58-year-old was initially taken to Nyack Hospital then transported to Good Samariatan Hospital in Suffern. His identity was confirmed to the community through a Nyack Fire Department Facebook post.<\/p>\n<h3>Truck driver killed in Highway 43 crash, two others injured<\/h3>\n<p>Cherokee City, AR &#8212; A 58-year-old died in Benton County <a href=\"http:\/\/www.eagleobserver.com\/news\/2017\/dec\/20\/truck-driver-killed-in-highway-43-crash\/\">after his truck overturned<\/a> and struck another vehicle on Thursday, authorities said. According to a report from Arkansas State Police, <strong>Harold Gene Ellis<\/strong> was driving a Freightliner truck north on Arkansas 43 near Cherokee City when he lost control in a curve shortly before 10:20 a.m. Police said the truck crossed the centerline and overturned, striking a 2017 Dodge Ram in the southbound lane. The woman, whose name has not been released, was volunteering for Akita Advocates. Around 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, a worker noticed an Akita running and covered in blood. The worker found the woman, badly wounded from bites, lying in the exercise area.
