At 2:20 p.m. Saturday the police and fire departments responded to the Guilford Yacht Club at 379 Whitfield St. after a barge overturned, resulting in several people in the water, police said. Fire Department rescue divers conducted a search of the area after it was determined that one man aboard the barge when it overturned was missing, police said. The divers located a 32-year-old man in the water who was determined to be deceased at the scene, police said.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"entry-title\">Construction worker killed by falling cinder block in Henrico County<\/h3>\n<p>HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) \u2014 A death investigation is underway after a construction worker was killed by a falling cinder block on Saturday in Henrico County. J.A. Heisler Contracting Company Inc. confirmed the construction worker is<strong> Harvey White<\/strong>.\u00a0 Crews were called to the shopping center on the 4000 block of Glenside Drive around 1:45 p.m. Investigators say high winds caused a wall to collapse at the construction site, and a cinder block fell and struck White. Police say White was rushed to VCU Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"article-headline--title\">Worker killed in sawmill accident identified<\/h3>\n<p>DIXFIELD, Maine \u2014<strong class=\"dateline\">\u00a0<\/strong>An employee was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wmtw.com\/article\/sawmill-worker-dies-in-workplace-accident-update\/19068528\">killed in an accident<\/a> at the Dixfield Sawmill Saturday. A spokesperson for J.D. Irving Ltd., which owns the sawmill, said the accident happened just before 9 a.m. outside the sawmill.\u00a0 \u00a0The worker, 38-year-old <strong>Christopher Pineau,<\/strong> was killed while working on the log yard crane, a spokesperson said.<\/p>\n<header class=\"article-header\">\n<h3 class=\"\">Forklift operator dies after being crushed in accident at Arcadia chicken plant<\/h3>\n<p><span id=\"WNStoryDateline\">ARCADIA, LA (KSLA) &#8211;\u00a0<\/span>Arcadia police and OSHA investigators are investigating <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kfvs12.com\/story\/37649112\/forklift-operator-dies-after-being-crushed-in-accident-at-house-of-raeford-farms-chicken-processing-plant-in-arcadia\">the death of a forklift operater<\/a> after he who was crushed in an accident just before 7:15 a.m. Sunday. Arcadia Police Chief Victor Rogers says 40-year-old forklift driver <strong>Robert Andrews<\/strong>, of Delight, Ark.,\u00a0had an accident on a forklift\u00a0at the\u00a0House of Raeford Farms. Andrews reportedly was on the back loading dock at the chicken-processing plant in Arcadia when he somehow lost control of the forklift and it ran off the dock, police say. Authorities believe Andrews then jumped off the forklift and was pinned against a high beam by the forklift.\u00a0 He was taken by ambulance to Bienville Medical Center in Arcadia, where he later was pronounced dead due to internal injuries.\u00a0 Andrews was employed by Delight Fabrication LLC, a contractor that was repairing something at the plant, House of Raeford Farms spokesman Dave Witter said.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"headline\">Sheriff: Indiana deputy shot during chase has died<\/h3>\n<\/header>\n<div class=\"article-content-wrap sticky-columns\">\n<div class=\"article-content\">\n<div class=\"article-body\">\n<p><span class=\"dateline\">LEBANON, Ind. \u2013 \u00a0<\/span>A central Indiana sheriff says a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/us\/2018\/03\/05\/sheriff-indiana-deputy-shot-during-chase-has-died.html\">deputy who was shot<\/a> while helping pursue a suspect has died at an Indianapolis hospital. The sheriff wrote that the married father of two young children &#8220;will be missed by so man<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"entry-title\">Semitruck driver killed, pickup truck driver arrested after I-70\u00a0crash<\/h3>\n<p>DENVER, CO &#8212; A <a href=\"http:\/\/kdvr.com\/2018\/03\/04\/one-person-dies-after-crash-involving-semi-truck-on-i-70-near-i-25\/\">driver was killed<\/a> when a semitruck and a pickup truck crashed on Interstate 70 late Saturday night, the Denver Police Department said. Police said the crash happened just before midnight in the eastbound lanes at Interstate 25. The semitruck caught on fire and the driver of the pickup truck fled the scene, police said. The pickup truck driver was later arrested in Denver and is being held on investigation of vehicular homicide, police said.<\/p>\n<h3>Delivery Driver Killed in Crash<\/h3>\n<p>Tukwila, WA &#8212; <strong>Steven Adam<\/strong> was driving his normal overnight delivery route from Seattle to Portland and during his return trip back to Seattle his delivery truck was found crashed by WSP at I-5 Northbound, Exit 46 overpass in Kelso, WA. (Source: Washington Department of Labor and Industries)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h3>Landfill Employee&#8217;s Death In Shredder Appears Accidental<\/h3>\n<p>HUDSON, FL \u2013 Pasco County Sheriff&#8217;s deputies are continuing to investigate the <a href=\"https:\/\/patch.com\/florida\/newportrichey\/landfill-employees-death-shredder-appears-accidental\">gruesome death of a 46-year-old employee<\/a> at a privately owned landfill in Hudson. Shortly after 10 a.m. Saturday, March 3, deputies were called to Coastal Landfill Disposal at 11416 Houston Ave., Hudson, by employees who told deputies that a co-worker went to clear a jammed trash-shredding machine. After he repaired the machine, he called out to his co-workers to re-start it. A couple of hours went by before the employees realized they hadn&#8217;t seen their co-worker since he left to repair the machine. They began searching through the shredded debris that had been deposited in the landfill and discovered his remains.<\/p>\n<div class=\"asset-masthead \">\n<header class=\"asset-header\">\n<header class=\"entry-header\">\n<div class=\"header-title-area\">\n<div class=\"headline-area\">\n<div class=\"headlines\">\n<h3>GreenWaste driver killed by own truck<time class=\"updated\" datetime=\"2018-03-03T18:37:44+00:00\"><\/time><\/h3>\n<p>SAN JOSE, CA \u2014 Police are investigating the death of a GreenWaste truck driver who was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mercurynews.com\/2018\/03\/02\/san-jose-greenwaste-driver-killed-by-own-truck\/\">hit and killed by his own work vehicle<\/a> Friday morning, authorities said. The incident, reported at 7:54 a.m., occurred on westbound Camden Avenue at El Paseo Drive,\u00a0according to San Jose police Officer Gina Tepoorten. The Highway Patrol says 24-year-old Scotland County <strong>deputy Alexis Locklear<\/strong> wrecked his car Thursday evening on a two-lane road near Wagram. Troopers say he died at the scene and a special team is investigating the crash. Scotland County Sheriff Ralph Kersey says Locklear was trying to catch up to another officer who was chasing a vehicle when he wrecked. He was taken to VCU Medical Center with serious injuries.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h3>Man found dead between slabs of stone at Elk Grove Village\u00a0warehouse<\/h3>\n<p>Elk Grove Village, IL &#8212; An employee at a stone supplier warehouse was <a href=\"https:\/\/chicago.suntimes.com\/news\/man-found-dead-between-slabs-of-stone-at-elk-grove-village-warehouse\/\">found dead between two slabs of stone<\/a> Wednesday in northwest suburban Elk Grove Village. Another employee found the man, 57-year-old <strong>Ilan Abergel<\/strong>, trapped between the two slabs just before 4:30 p.m. at the Quartz Master warehouse at 1620 Jarvis Ave., according to Elk Grove Village police and the Cook County Medical Examiner\u2019s Office.\u00a0Abergel was unresponsive and pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said. He lived in Skokie.<\/p>\n<header>\n<h3 class=\"entry-title\">Body of missing shellfish worker recovered<\/h3>\n<p class=\"entry-title\">PORT LUDLOW, WA \u2014 The body of 28-year-old <strong>Terrence Lavergne<\/strong> has been recovered near the area where he went <a href=\"http:\/\/www.peninsuladailynews.com\/news\/body-of-missing-shellfish-worker-recovered\/\">missing and was presumed drowned<\/a> Feb. 18. Lavergne\u2019s co-workers discovered his body Tuesday on a Thorndyke Road beach near the high tide line as they began their shift at Baywater Shellfish, Inc., a family-run shellfish farm based on Bainbridge Island, according to Jefferson County Sheriff\u2019s Detective Joe Nole. Lavergne, who lived in Coyle, was harvesting oysters when his rowboat capsized, according to the Sheriff\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n<h3>Construction worker killed when pinned by sliding backhoe<\/h3>\n<div class=\"article-text paywall\">\n<p>RIMROCK, Ariz. (AP) \u2014 Yavapai County authorities say a construction worker is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.readingeagle.com\/ap\/article\/construction-worker-killed-when-pinned-by-sliding-backhoe\">dead after being pinned against a wall by a backhoe<\/a>. The Sheriff&#8217;s Office says 48-year-old <strong>Danny Ray Parsley<\/strong> of Camp Verde was killed Tuesday when the backhoe slid forward and a support arm used to stabilize the tractor crushed his abdomen. According to the Sheriff&#8217;s Office, the backhoe operator told deputies that Parsley was using a shovel to move dirt as the backhoe dug out a footing for a building under construction.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"asset-headline speakable-headline\">Police confirm man dies in Mellott Manufacturing industrial accident<\/h3>\n<p class=\"speakable-p-1 p-text\">PETERS TOWNSHIP, PA<strong> &#8212; Cameron Allen Funk,<\/strong> 19, Greencastle,\u00a0\u00a0was identified as the man found dead at Mellott Manufacturing, according to a release from Pennsylvania State Police, Chambersburg. Funk&#8217;s<a href=\"https:\/\/www.publicopiniononline.com\/story\/news\/local\/2018\/02\/28\/man-reported-dead-mellot-manufacturing-police-say\/382600002\/\"> death was caused by a heavy piece of machinery falling on him<\/a>, and the Franklin County Coroner ruled his cause of death blunt force head injury.\u00a0 The death was ruled accidental. Pennsylvania State Police were called to the scene around 2:58 p.m. Wednesday.\u00a0Mellott Manufacturing is a family-run business that produces log and lumber handling equipment, Logston said. The business has roots in the 1960s, and took on its current name in the early 1970s, according to information on its website.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"asset-headline speakable-headline\">Sterling Hts. man, 39, victim of trench collapse<\/h3>\n<p class=\"speakable-p-1 p-text\">Sterling Heights, MI &#8212; Police have released the name of the\u00a0construction worker\u00a0who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.detroitnews.com\/story\/news\/local\/macomb-county\/2018\/02\/27\/worker-killed-sterling-hts-trench-collapse-idd\/376351002\/\">died after a trench he was working in collapsed<\/a> Monday in Sterling Heights. The victim has been identified as <strong>Jason Holmes<\/strong>, 39, of Sterling Heights, said Sterling Heights Police Lt. Mario Bastianelli. Bastianelli said\u00a0Holmes\u00a0was doing some underground prep work in a trench that is about 20 feet long, 4 feet wide and 12 feet deep. Officials said the contractor was attempting to disconnect a sewer line. The victim was alone in the trench and no other person was injured in the collapse, Bastianelli said.<\/p>\n<header class=\"entry-header\">\n<div class=\"header-title-area\">\n<div class=\"headline-area\">\n<div class=\"headlines\">\n<h3>Tree trimmer dead after contacting power lines<time class=\"updated\" datetime=\"2018-02-26T23:46:31+00:00\"><\/time><\/h3>\n<p>SAN JOSE, CA \u2014 A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mercurynews.com\/2018\/02\/26\/san-jose-tree-trimmer-presumed-dead-after-contacting-power-lines\/\">tree trimmer was electrocuted<\/a> in South San Jose after coming into contact with a high-voltage power line Monday afternoon in what authorities were treating as an industrial accident. The San Jose Fire Department was called at 1:38 p.m. to the 5000 block of Page Mill Drive, near Branham Lane and Monterey Road, for reports of the accident, which appears to have involved a landscaper working for a private company, fire Capt. Daniel Vega said. (AP) \u2014 Authorities say a semitrailer driver <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usnews.com\/news\/best-states\/nebraska\/articles\/2018-02-27\/truck-driver-killed-in-colfax-county-highway-accident\">died after his big rig ran off a state highway<\/a> in eastern\u00a0Nebraska<span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">\u00a0and crashed into a creek bank.\u00a0<\/span>The accident occurred a little before 2 p.m. Monday on Nebraska Highway 15, about 6 miles north (10 kilometers) north of Schuyler. Colfax County authorities say in a news release that the northbound truck came up on a northbound tractor pulling a feed wagon. The release says the truck was trying to pass the tractor and wagon on the left when the tractor began to turn left. The truck veered off the highway into a field and crashed into the creek bank.
