\"\"Today is the 8th anniversary of the\u00a0Deepwater Horizon explosion that killed 11 workers and created the largest oil spill in the history of the world. And in case you were under the impression that our government has learned the lessons of the catastrophe, think again<\/a>. The agency that is supposed to regulate offshore drilling (and actually did for a while under the Obama administration) is now led by someone with ties to the oil industry whose main goal is not to protect workers or the environment, but to help the oil industry thrive by rolling back existing protections. Meanwhile, the Trump administration is attempting to expand drilling off the Atlantic, Pacific and Gulf coasts.<\/p>\n
