According to the coroner on Friday, 65-year-old <strong>Antonio Barroso Garcia<\/strong> died due to blunt force trauma of the head and neck. Police say Garcia was killed on Wednesday when a heavy load lift by a tractor fell on him at the former Hewlett-Packard campus in Boise, according to officials. Garcia, who is believed to be a landscaper and contractor, died at the scene.<\/p>\n<h3>Man killed in industrial accident<\/h3>\n<p>Mt. Gilead, NC &#8212; An <a href=\"http:\/\/www.montgomeryherald.com\/news\/article_be411f82-613b-11e8-8a1a-ef63e67624bd.html\">accident at Mohawk Industries<\/a> in Mt. Gilead took the life of a 67-year-old Norwood man Friday afternoon. The accident occurred about mid afternoon. The man, <strong>Raphael Lamonte Taylor<\/strong>, of Norwood was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n<h3>Security Guard Killed By Falling Glass Panel In Midtown: NYPD<\/h3>\n<p>MANHATTAN, NY \u2014 A security guard <a href=\"https:\/\/patch.com\/new-york\/midtown-nyc\/security-guard-killed-falling-glass-panel-midtown-nypd\">died after a large glass panel being moved by construction workers fell on him<\/a> Saturday morning, the NYPD said. Police responded to a 911 call at a construction site at 217 W 57th Street around 10:30 a.m. Saturday. The security guard, 67, was found unconscious and unresponsive with severe body trauma and a 27-year-old construction worker was found with non-life threatening injuries. The security guard was taken to Mount Sinai St. Luke&#8217;s Hospital in critical condition. He was pronounced dead at the hospital. The second victim is in stable condition, police said. The security guard was identified as Bronx resident <strong>Harry Ramnauth<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"headline\">Man killed in industrial accident at Albany scrap metal facility<\/h3>\n<p>ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) &#8211; A man was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.news10.com\/news\/local-news\/albany-police-and-fire-crews-responding-to-fatal-industrial-accident-at-scrap-metal-facility\/1200593927\">killed during an industrial accident<\/a> at the Ben Weitsman of Albany scrap metal yard on Smith Blvd in Albany Saturday morning, Albany Police say. Albany police and fire crews responded to an EMS call involving an employee of the Ben Weitsman\u00a0facility around 9:20 a.m. Saturday. The caller\u00a0said a man had been pinned under a bucket loader. When police and fire crews arrived at the scene they found the man unresponsive, pinned under the bucket. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. After an investigation, police determined the 27-year-old victim had been attempting to remove a piece of metal lodged between the bucket and a tire. A hydraulic\u00a0line severed, causing the bucket to come down on top of the man.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"headline\">FedEx driver killed on Florida interstate when truck blows tire, hits car<\/h3>\n<p>Tampa, FL &#8212; The 22-year-old delivery driver, whose name has not been released by the Florida Highway Patrol, was eastbound on an outside lane of I-4 east of Tampa <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wpxi.com\/news\/trending-now\/fedex-driver-killed-on-florida-interstate-when-truck-blows-tire-hits-car\/754583785\">when a tire blew out on his freight truck<\/a> at 10 a.m., troopers said. The FedEx tractor-trailer hit a Chevrolet Volt in the inside lane of the highway, crashed through a guard rail after impact and rolled onto the driver\u2019s side, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"story-headline0\" data-article-id=\"336359474\" data-article-version=\"1.0\">Savannah police officer killed while directing traffic<\/h3>\n<p>SAVANNAH, GA (AP)\u00a0&#8211; Authorities say a Savannah police officer was<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsbtv.com\/news\/local\/savannah-police-officer-killed-while-directing-traffic\/756575561\"> struck and killed by a tractor-trailer rig<\/a> while helping direct traffic at a crash scene. The department announced the death of 37-year-old <strong>Anthony Christie<\/strong> on Friday. Reports say Christie was at a crash scene on Interstate 16 about 2:30 a.m. when he was hit.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"title\">Worker died after falling 19 stories from construction elevator, police say<\/h3>\n<p>Charlotte, NC &#8212; The 24-year-old man who died at an office building under construction in uptown Charlotte this week was<a href=\"http:\/\/www.charlotteobserver.com\/news\/local\/article211868694.html\"> riding in a construction elevator when he fell out of it at the 19th floor<\/a>, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police said Thursday.<strong> Juventino Mata-Hernandez<\/strong> was pronounced dead at the scene on Wednesday afternoon, police said. The construction site at 620 S. Tryon St. is part of the Legacy Union development, on the former Charlotte Observer site.\u00a0Workers are building a 33-story office tower, most of which has been leased by Bank of America. The project is being developed by Lincoln Harris and Goldman Sachs.<\/p>\n<h3>April drowning was second death at Annapolis boat service company<\/h3>\n<p>Crownsville, MD &#8212; The Annapolis man who <a href=\"http:\/\/www.capitalgazette.com\/news\/for_the_record\/ac-cn-kayaker-death-0524-story.html\">died in a workplace accident<\/a> on the Severn River last month worked for the same company where a Crownsville man died two years ago while winterizing a shrink-wrapped boat. <strong>Jose Gilberto Loza Ramirez<\/strong>, 21, and another man were working for Prestige Yacht Management when they used a kayak in an attempt to recover a floating platform that had become loose, a Maryland Natural Resources Police spokesman said. Neither man was wearing a life vest when the kayak overturned.\u00a0 Ramirez\u2019s death follows that of Prestige Yacht Management employee Matthew McHale, 25. He died in November 2016 of carbon monoxide poisoning while winterizing a shrink-wrapped boat for the company.\u00a0The Ball family is advocating for bills protecting against carbon monoxide poisoning after their son Matthew McHale died in 2016.<\/p>\n<div id=\"WNStoryHeader\">\n<h3 class=\"\">Worker Killed in Explosion<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"WNStoryBody\" class=\" withRelated left\">\n<p>PINEVILLE, La. The Jena Times reports that <strong>Allen Kendrick,<\/strong> 56, of Jena died when a piece of equipment Kendrick was operating inside the plant exploded and caught fire around 3 a.m.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"asset-headline speakable-headline\">Body of missing worker recovered at Sky Harbor Airport drill-rig site<\/h3>\n<p class=\"speakable-p-1 p-text\">Phoenix, AZ &#8212; Crews on Thursday<a href=\"https:\/\/www.azcentral.com\/story\/news\/local\/phoenix-breaking\/2018\/05\/24\/body-missing-worker-recovered-sky-harbor-airport-drill-rig-site\/643358002\/\">\u00a0recovered the body of a drill-rig operator<\/a>\u00a0(<strong>Melvin &#8220;Wayne&#8221; Self<\/strong>, 52) who went missing\u00a0Monday after the equipment collapsed\u00a0at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, the Phoenix Fire Department confirmed. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, Capt. Rob McDade\u00a0said Thursday evening. McDade said the Maricopa County Medical Examiner&#8217;s Office and the Phoenix Police Department would be in charge of the investigation moving forward.\u00a0Construction crews completed excavating the collapsed area Wednesday, allowing vacuum trucks to operate safely and remove more dirt from the collapse site, officials said. The hole had grown to 75 feet wide and about 22 feet deep as of Wednesday evening as a result of the continuing work, Phoenix fire officials said.\u00a0 Crews removed 50 tons of dirt from the site with multiple vacuum trucks as of Wednesday night after\u00a0bringing in a backhoe\u00a0to clear more area.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"\">Construction worker killed at gravel pit near Fort Pierre<\/h3>\n<p>FORT PIERRE, S.D. (AP) &#8211; A construction worker has <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newscenter1.tv\/story\/38263596\/construction-worker-killed-at-gravel-pit-near-fort-pierre\">died in an accident at a gravel pit<\/a> west of Fort Pierre. The Stanley County Sheriff&#8217;s Office says 61-year-old<strong> Steven Pigsley<\/strong>, of Black Hawk, was working for a Rapid City subcontractor on repaving Highway 34 and drove his truck to the Cody Briggs Gravel Pit. The Dakota Radio Group reports Pigsley got out to chain his truck to a loader and was crushed between the two. He was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"asset-headline speakable-headline\">South Lyon Police identify road worker killed in construction accident<\/h3>\n<p class=\"speakable-p-1 p-text\">Detroit, MI &#8212; A Detroit man\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hometownlife.com\/story\/news\/local\/south-lyon\/2018\/05\/23\/police-release-name-man-killed-road-construction-accident\/638436002\/\">killed in a construction zone accident<\/a>\u00a0on Pontiac Trail, north of 11 Mile, Wednesday morning has been identified. South Lyon police report that <strong>Emmanuel Gonzalez-Garcia<\/strong>, 21, was fatally injured in the accident at approximately 10:30 a.m. He was a flag man working for Ajax Paving, which is resurfacing a section of Pontiac Trail between 11 Mile and Silver Lake roads. Officers were dispatched to the area north of the intersection to investigate an unconscious man that had been struck by a vehicle. Upon their arrival, they discovered that one of the crew members had been run over by a semi-truck inside the work zone. The truck driver works for Piper Trucking in Warren. &#8220;(The victim) was checking the pavement density. The semi driver was backing up to put asphalt into the paving machine and didn&#8217;t see him,&#8221; South Lyon Police Lt. Chris Sovick said. &#8220;There were no witnesses to the accident. I&#8217;m not sure how it was discovered (that the man had been killed).&#8221;<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"name post-title entry-title\">C.G. Schmidt worker dies while repairing parking structure<\/h3>\n<div class=\"entry entry-content\">\n<p>Milwaukee, WI &#8212; An employee of C.G. Schmidt was <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyreporter.com\/2018\/05\/24\/c-g-schmidt-worker-killed-while-repairing-parking-structure\/\">killed while repairing a Milwaukee parking structure<\/a> Wednesday.\u00a0<strong>John Kinjerski<\/strong>, 47, of Oconomoc, was killed on the job after his head became wedged between a concrete beam and a scissor lift at about 12:10 p.m. Wednesday, said Karen Domagalski, operating manager for the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner\u2019s Office. Kinjerski was an employee of Milwaukee-based C.G. Schmidt and was working on a project to repair a parking garage near the Marcus Center in downtown Milwaukee. The incident was likely accidental, Domagalski said. Medical examiners plan to preform an autopsy on Friday.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h3>Landscaper Hit And Killed In Haymarket: Police<\/h3>\n<p>HAYMARKET, VA\u2014A landscaping worker was <a href=\"https:\/\/patch.com\/virginia\/manassas\/landscaper-hit-killed-haymarket-police\">killed Wednesday morning after being hit by a school bus<\/a> in the area of Old Carolina Road and Piedmont Vista Drive, according to Prince William County Police. <strong>Eusebio Joya Castro<\/strong>, 53, of Aldie was pronounced dead at the scene. There were no students on the bus. Shortly after 8 a.m., police responded to the scene and found that a landscaping truck was stopped in the right lane of Old Carolina Road while preparing to mow and landscape the area. But the truck and the worker standing behind it were hit by a bus in the same lane.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"entry-title\">Laurinburg man killed in work accident at Smithfield Mill<\/h3>\n<p>LAURINBURG, NC \u2014 A 30-year-old Scotland County man has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.laurinburgexchange.com\/top-stories\/15663\/laurinburg-man-killed-in-work-accident-at-smithfield-mill\">died in an accident at Smithfield Feed Mill<\/a>. <strong>James Earl Jacobs<\/strong> of Salley McNair Road died Thursday morning after he was hit by a large, front-end loader at the mill on Andrew Jackson Highway, according to Det. Jessica Sadonikov of the Scotland County Sheriff\u2019s Office. \u201cIt was his first day back on the job. He had been unemployed, but had worked for them last year and came back,\u201d Sadovnikov said. \u201cAs he was walking back out to the area of his assignment, an individual operating a front-end loader ran over Jacobs and killed him.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"value\" data-bvo-item-id=\"21006025\" data-bvo-item-type=\"platform-content\">Retired NYPD Officer Who Worked at Ground Zero Dies<\/h3>\n<p>NEW YORK &#8212; A retired NYPD officer from Huntington Station who spent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.officer.com\/command-hq\/supplies-services\/healthcare\/news\/21006025\/retired-nypd-officer-who-worked-at-ground-zero-dies\">six weeks working at the smoking ruins of the World Trade Center<\/a> terror attacks has died of cancer, his family said. Williams\u2019 vehicle left the road and hit a tree.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"headline\">KFC employee shot Saturday dies of injuries, becomes 6th fatal shooting victim in 5 days<\/h3>\n<p>INDIANAPOLIS, IN &#8212; Police say a woman shot at a northwest side KFC Saturday afternoon has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theindychannel.com\/news\/local-news\/crime\/kfc-employee-shot-saturday-dies-of-injuries-becomes-6th-fatal-shooting-victim-in-5-days\">died of her injuries<\/a>. Officers were called to the KFR located at 7215 N. Michigan Road around 5:30 Saturday on a report of an employee of the business who had been shot.\u00a0They arrived to find <strong>Quiana Lashawn Toussaint<\/strong>, 20, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.<\/p>\n<h3>Truck driver killed in I-4 crash involving two semis, troopers say<\/h3>\n<p>Orlando, FL &#8212; A semi-truck driver in Volusia County was<a href=\"http:\/\/www.orlandosentinel.com\/news\/traffic\/os-traffic-i4-two-semi-crash-20180522-story.html\"> killed Tuesday morning after sideswiping another truck<\/a> stopped on the shoulder of eastbound I-4, Florida Highway Patrol Lt. Kim Montes said. After hitting the stopped tractor-trailer, the second semi-truck careened off the road and struck some trees, Montes said. The driver of the second truck was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of the parked semi wasn\u2019t injured.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"articleHeadline\" class=\"p-name\">Semi-truck driver killed in fiery Muskegon County crash identified<\/h3>\n<p>TWIN LAKE, MI &#8211; The cause of a crash that occurred on M-120 in Muskegon County, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mlive.com\/news\/muskegon\/index.ssf\/2018\/05\/semi-truck_driver_killed_in_fi.html\">killing one driver<\/a>, on Monday, May 21, remains under investigation,\u00a0according\u00a0the Muskegon County Sheriff&#8217;s Office.\u00a0 The fiery fatal crash that occurred at 6:15 a.m. on the 5600 block of Holton Road\/M-120 south of Twin Lake involved a semi-truck and trailer and a 2011 Hyundai,\u00a0according a news release from the sheriff&#8217;s office.\u00a0<strong> Ronald White,<\/strong> 57, of Muskegon, the driver of the semi-truck, died in the crash.
