CMS Energy, which owns the facility, released a statement Monday confirming the worker’s death. The worker’s name and the circumstances leading to his death were not released. CMS is the parent company of Consumers Energy, which provides electric and natural gas service to much of Mid-Michigan. The Genesee Power Station at 5310 N. Dort Highway burns waste wood from pallets, crates and other sources to generate electricity. The plant burns a small amount of tires with the wood, as well.<\/p>\n

Kansas City, MO — Two Sheriff’s deputies were fatally shot when an inmate overpowered them<\/a> near a Kansas courthouse on Friday, officials said. The deadly altercation took place about 11:30 a.m. when the two Wyandotte County sheriff’s deputies in Kansas City pulled into the parking lot and were readying to transport inmates to court, said Kelli Bailiff of the sheriff’s office. It’s very possible the deputies were attacked with their own guns, Bailiff said. Deputy Patrick Rohrer<\/strong>, 35, was taken to a hospital where he later died, Kansas City police said. Deputy Theresa King<\/strong>, 44, was rushed to University of Kansas Medical Center in critical condition. She was pronounced dead about 12 hours later, just after midnight on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Granby, CO —\u00a0 A man (Rosario “Chayo” Mart\u00ednez<\/strong>) was killed Thursday at a construction site in Grand County after a trench he was working in collapsed<\/a>. The Granby Police Department says it was called out to the scene about 10 a.m. The man was eventually pulled from the trench, but was unresponsive. Efforts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful and the man died at Middle Park Medical Center, police said in a news release.<\/p>\n

West Englewood, IL — A Berwyn man was pronounced dead after being run over by a trailer<\/a> Wednesday morning at the CSX rail yard in West Englewood. Paramedics were called about 11:30 a.m. for a \u201cdriver down\u201d at the CSX Intermodal Terminal rail yard at 2101 W. 59th St., according to the Chicago Fire Department. He was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead.The Cook County Medical Examiner\u2019s Office identified him as Gabriel Sanchez<\/strong>, 47. An autopsy was conducted Thursday, but a ruling on his death was pending further investigation. Sanchez was working at the rail yard for Strictly Trailer Repair, Inc., according to Rhonda Burke, a spokeswoman for the U.S. Department of Labor. The Westmont-based company is a contractor at the CSX facility. Sanchez was operating a \u201cspotter trailer\u201d when he was struck by the driver\u2019s side, rear tandem wheels of the trailer as he was moving a piece of equipment for repair, Burke said. Bensalem Public Safety Director Fred Harran says 2 feet of debris is hampering recovery of the body near one of the station’s three 8,000-gallon (30,000-liter) gasoline tanks. Harran said workers were trying to remove water from the vault surrounding the gasoline tank at the Liberty Gas station when the blast occurred around 5 p.m. Tuesday, trapping the victim.\u00a0Another man rushed to a hospital was reported in critical but stable condition Wednesday. Postal carrier dies on route<\/h3>\n

Georgetown, KY– A Georgetown postal carrier passed out and died Friday<\/a> while on his route. Daniel Rosenbach,<\/strong> 42, was completing his first week with the Georgetown branch of the U.S. Post Office when he collapsed Friday afternoon around 5 p.m. said Scott County Coroner John Goble. He had shadowed another carrier Monday through Thursday, but Friday he started his own walking mail route and another new carrier was shadowing him, Goble said. An autopsy was conducted because the death occurred while working, and showed Rosenbach had an enlarged heart, Goble said. Weather is not believed to have been a factor, Goble said, but the temperature at the time of his collapse was about 90, and the humidity was high.<\/p>\n

According to Upper Arlington Police, the victim is 31-year-old Charles Edward Hale McCoy<\/strong> of Columbus. According to police, McCoy was involved in a verbal argument with a female employee. A short time later, the suspect, identified as Jeffery L. Smith, arrived and started fighting with McCoy. Upper Arlington police officer Bryan McKean say the two men had a verbal argument that escalated. \u201cI don\u2019t know how long the two of them knew each other but it does seem they had the female employee in common,\u201d McKean said. During the fight, McCoy was stabbed. He was taken to Riverside Methodist Hospital where he later died.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Pearland, TX — A worker was killed in an industrial accident<\/a> at a Pearland pipe yard on Friday, police said. The incident occurred at about 9:20 a.m. at Houston Tubulars, Inc., 13600 Hatfield Road, in Pearland police spokesman Jason Wells said Monday.\u00a0The worker, who was not identified, was moving a large pipe in the yard with another person when a wood bracket supporting the pipe broke. The worker was crushed to death, Wells said.<\/p>\n

MAN KILLED IN LOGGING EQUIPMENT ACCIDENT IN COLD BROOK<\/i><\/h3>\n

COLD BROOK, NY \u2013 A man was killed in an accident with logging equipment<\/a> in the village of Cold Brook on Monday morning, according to New York State Police. The industrial accident occurred at 4391 Norway St. in Cold Brook, Herkimer County. Police say the son of 70-year-old William Kraszewski<\/strong> was moving a large \u201chead rack\u201d from a logging truck across his driveway to an adjacent lawn, and Kraszewski was standing in front of the fork lift in an attempt to stabilize the rack as his son got ready to lower it. Police say the rack then became unstable and fell from the fork lift, striking Kraszewski on the head and pinning him underneath it. Kraszewski was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n
