About 3 p.m. Thursday, <strong>Rogelio Gonzalez Aponte<\/strong>, 58, was driving near a retention pond when his truck\u2019s left wheels slipped toward the pond, FHP Lt. Kim Montes said. The truck went into the pond, trapping Aponte underwater. Montes said several of Aponte\u2019s coworkers used construction equipment to put the truck upright, but they could not find Aponte. Aponte\u2019s body was found by divers Friday morning, Montes said.<\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"Article-paragraph\">\n<h3 class=\"Article-title\">Owner of Jeffersonville gas station shot and killed during robbery<\/h3>\n<p>LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) &#8211; The owner of the the Stop &amp; Go gas station in Jeffersonville was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wdrb.com\/story\/39275034\/clerk-at-jeffersonville-gas-station-shot-and-killed-during-robbery\">shot and killed during a robbery<\/a> late Thursday night.\u00a0 During a news conference Friday afternoon,\u00a0Det. Lt. Todd Hollis identified the store&#8217;s owner as 49-year-old<strong> Praful Patel<\/strong>.\u00a0 The Stop &amp; Go is located on Allison Lane, right across the street from Jeffersonville High School.\u00a0 Police say they were sent to the station around 10:50 p.m. on Oct. 11 after a female customer called 911 to report that she was\u00a0 inside the store and there was no sign of\u00a0anyone behind the counter. Hollis said when officers arrived about 2-3 minutes after receiving the call, they found Patel dead in the office area of the store. He was hit as the truck was backing up at the job site.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h3 class=\"headline\">Virginia firefighter dies, several more injured when semi-truck rams into firetruck<\/h3>\n<p class=\"speakable\">Hanover, Va &#8212; A semi-truck driver <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/us\/virginia-firefighter-dies-several-more-injured-when-semi-truck-rams-into-firetruck\">slammed into a firetruck<\/a> Thursday evening that was assisting with a car crash on a Virginia Interstate, killing one firefighter and injuring several others. The tractor-trailer\u00a0was traveling south on Interstate 295 around 9 p.m. when it rammed a firetruck, which was providing aid in a two-car crash in Hanover, Va., the Virginia State Police said in a press release.\u00a0\u00a0<strong>Lt. Brad Clark<\/strong> died at the scene, the\u00a0Richmond Times-Dispatch\u00a0reported early Friday, citing authorities.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"article-headline--title\">Man, 61, dies in industrial accident at manufacturing facility in Wauwatosa<\/h3>\n<p>WAUWATOSA, Wis. \u2014A 61-year-old man was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wisn.com\/article\/medical-examiner-called-to-manufacturing-facility-in-wauwatosa\/23748005\">killed Friday afternoon in an industrial accident<\/a> in Wauwatosa, police said. It happened at AAM Casting at 63rd and State streets. Lebanon, PA &#8212; On Friday, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) opened an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the Thursday night <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/news\/osha-investigate-crewmember-death-sonys-mr-rogers-film-1151950\">death of a crewmember<\/a> on the Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania set of Sony&#8217;s untitled Mr. Rogers biopic, starring Tom Hanks. <strong>James Emswiller,<\/strong> a 61-year-old sound mixer from Pittsburgh\u00a0\u2014 also the home of the legendary PBS icon Fred Rogers\u00a0\u2014 was apparently taking a smoke break on the roof of a building when he fell over a brick wall and plummeted two stories to his death, the\u00a0<em>Pittsburgh Tribune-Review\u00a0<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/triblive.com\/local\/allegheny\/14169019-74\/sound-technician-falls-from-balcony-of-mt-lebanon-building-being-filmed-in\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a>. Locals rushed to the scene to help and medics arrived shortly thereafter to administer CPR. A local CBS affiliate reported that Emswiller may have suffered a heart attack. He was taken to the local UPMC Hospital, where he later died.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"entry-title\">Employee dies in conveyor accident at Smithfield Foods Plant<\/h3>\n<p>TAR HEEL. NC \u2014 According to several sources, an industrial accident <a href=\"https:\/\/www.laurinburgexchange.com\/news\/18954\/employee-dies-in-conveyor-accident-at-smithfield-foods-plant\">claimed the life of a mechanic<\/a> at a Smithfield Foods plant in Tar Heel on Tuesday after he became trapped in a piece of machinery, several local news organizations reported.\u00a0The victim, identified as 55-year-old<strong> Michael Jessup,<\/strong> was fatally injured while he was on a scissor lift performing repair work on a conveyor belt, Leland-based news broadcaster WWAY reported. Emergency personnel were called to the Tar Heel facility at about 3:30 p.m., and officials pronounced the man dead at the scene as a result of trauma to the head. \u201cThe employee was struck in the head by a cylinder while trying to remove a bent wheel from a chain drive. The employee switched the airline hoses to relieve pressure from the chain when the employee was stuck,\u201d N.C. The victim&#8217;s identity has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin. He was pronounced dead later in the afternoon at Stamford Hospital. No other injuries were reported. According to police, the man was in the midst of repairing the building&#8217;s roof when it appears that he stepped on something that could not support his weight, and that led to the fall.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"headline\">Authorities ID Domino&#8217;s pizza deliveryman shot dead in East Liberty<\/h3>\n<p>East Liberty,\u00a0 PA &#8212; A pizza deliveryman was shot and killed Saturday during a robbery just after getting out of his car with two pizzas that were apparently ordered by the suspect to an address in East Liberty, a police spokesman said. The driver, identified by authorities as 56-year-old\u00a0<strong>Abdulganiyu Sanusi<\/strong> of Lincoln-Lemington, worked for a Domino&#8217;s store nearby and was shot in the torso after a witness heard a man yell, &#8220;Give me your money! Give me your money!&#8221; followed by one shot, said Pittsburgh Police spokesman Chris Togneri.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"headline\">Livingston Parish employee dies after work-related injury<\/h3>\n<p>WALKER, La\u00a0 &#8211; A man from a\u00a0Livingston Parish work release program<a href=\"https:\/\/www.brproud.com\/news\/local-news\/livingston-parish-employee-dies-after-work-related-injury\/1518034379\"> died in a work related incident<\/a> in Walker Thursday. According to the Livingston Parish Sheriff&#8217;s Office,\u00a050-year-old<strong> Ronnie Francois <\/strong>was making construction materials when he suffered a head injury. On October 11, 2018, we&#8217;re told deputies were sent to the scene in the 36,000\u00a0block of Corbin Road just before 3 p.m. Upon arrival, Francois was found dead.<\/p>\n<h3>Bergen County Mayor, Firefighter Dies Of 9\/11-Related Cancer<\/h3>\n<p>BERGEN COUNTY, NJ \u2014 North Arlington is in mourning after Mayor<strong> Joseph Bianchi<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/patch.com\/new-jersey\/ridgewood\/bergen-county-mayor-firefighter-dies-9-11-related-cancer\">died Monday of cancer<\/a> that could be traced back to the 9\/11 terrorist attack on the World Trade Center. Bianchi, 77, was a 26-year member of the North Arlington Volunteer Fire Department and responded to the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001. Borough Administrator Stephen Lo Iacono said Bianchi, 77, worked at the World Trade Center site &#8220;for a while&#8221; following the attack. Bianchi had battled cancer for the past 18 months, but he &#8220;took a serious turn&#8221; a few days ago, Lo Iacono said.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"page-title\" class=\"title\">1 killed by falling beam at Evanston building site<\/h3>\n<div id=\"content-content\" class=\"clear-block\">\n<div class=\"col-md-12\">\n<div id=\"node-1648779\" class=\"node\">\n<div class=\"p402_premium\">\n<div class=\"content\">\n<p>EVANSTON, IL (AP) \u2014 The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.news-gazette.com\/news\/2018-10-10\/1-killed-falling-beam-evanston-building-site.html\">death of a construction worker<\/a>, killed when a steel beam fell at a construction site in suburban Chicago. A crane was lifting beams from a semitrailer Tuesday morning at a nine-story apartment building under construction in Evanston when the beam fell onto two workers. Evanston police spokesman Perry Polinski says one worker was pronounced dead at a hospital. The Cook County medical examiner&#8217;s office identified the dead man as 55-year-old<strong> David G. Bialas<\/strong> of Compton, Illinois. The other worker, a 27-year-old Woodridge man, was hospitalized in critical condition.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"entry-title\">Roosevelt man dies in industrial accident in Duchesne\u00a0Co.<\/h3>\n<p>DUCHESNE COUNTY, Utah \u2014 A 40-year-old Roosevelt man died Tuesday <a href=\"https:\/\/fox13now.com\/2018\/10\/10\/roosevelt-man-dies-in-industrial-accident-in-duchesne-co\/\">when a piece of equipment fell on him<\/a>, according to the Duchesne County Sheriff\u2019s Office. The Sheriff\u2019s Office identified the victim as <strong>Andrew Romero<\/strong>. According to a news release from DCSO, Romero died at an oilfield location near 750 N 3000 W, in the Hancock Cove area of Duchesne County. \u201cWhen deputies arrived, they learned crews from an oilfield service company were working to move a heavy, metal floor from one workover rig to another. During the move a section of the floor fell on Andrew Romero,\u201d the news release said.<\/p>\n<h3>LOS MOLINOS EMPLOYEE DIES IN WORK-RELATED DEATH<i class=\"fa fa-plus-square-o\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/i><\/h3>\n<p>LOS MOLINOS,\u00a0Calif. <strong>&#8211;<\/strong>\u00a0An employee of Cal North Farm Labor, Inc. who was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.actionnewsnow.com\/content\/news\/Los-Molinos-Employee-Dies-in-Work-Related-Death--496716061.html\">fatally crushed<\/a> while working around a walnut bin at Crain Walnut Shelling Inc.\u00a0 <strong>Jose Alberto Escobar Guerra<\/strong>, 66, of Mexico was killed in an equipment accident at the plant where he was working, said Omar Farmer of the Deputy Coroner\u2019s Office.Several employees have reached out to Action News Now <a href=\"https:\/\/www.actionnewsnow.com\/content\/news\/Los-Molinos-Employees-Voice-Safety-Concerns-Following-Factory-Death-497301341.html\">to express that conditions are unsafe at the factory<\/a>. Scampini said that he was trying to push for safety features on this machine for the past year.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"art-title\" class=\"art-title \/ p-name\">Arlington father killed in building collapse was looking forward to meeting new son, widow says<\/h3>\n<p>Dallas, TX &#8212; <strong>Raul Ortega Cabrera<\/strong> never showed for band practice Monday evening. The 35-year-old construction worker, father and saxophonist was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/news\/west-dallas-1\/2018\/10\/09\/arlington-father-killed-building-collapse-looking-forward-meeting-new-son-widow-says\">killed in a West Dallas building collapse<\/a> when a storm\u2019s strong winds overpowered the unfinished three-story townhome he had been working on. He was one of six workers who took refuge from the rain when the building collapsed. Cabrera died at the scene, and the medical examiner has not yet ruled on what killed him.\u00a0The Arlington man was father to a 15-year-old daughter and an 11-year-old son and had another son on the way, whom he was excited to meet, relatives said.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"headline\">Iredell tree worker dies in apparent accident<\/h3>\n<div class=\"meta\">\n<div class=\"subscriber-preview\">\n<p>Statesville, NC &#8212; A professional tree worker was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.statesville.com\/news\/iredell-tree-worker-dies-in-apparent-accident\/article_53fc5902-cb3f-11e8-bfca-7ff400c192b7.html\">killed on the job<\/a> Monday after a tree limb apparently fell on him, Iredell County Sheriff Darren Campbell said. The death is under investigation by the sheriff\u2019s office, but Campbell said the man \u201chad injuries consistent with an accident.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>Worker Dies In Bethesda Construction Site Accident: Police<\/h3>\n<p>BETHESDA, MD \u2014 Detectives with the Montgomery County Police Department are investigating an <a href=\"https:\/\/patch.com\/maryland\/bethesda-chevychase\/worker-dies-bethesda-construction-site-accident-police\">accidental death<\/a> that occurred Friday afternoon at a construction site in Bethesda. The police identified the worker who died as <strong>Bryan Frederick McGinn<\/strong>, 43, of Purcell Road in Port Tobacco. Officers and fire and rescue personnel responded at 1:28 p.m. Friday to the site at 8751 Rockville Pike, according to the police. They said McGinn was dismantling a pressurized tank when he was struck by a pipe affixed to the tank. He was taken to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.<\/p>\n<h3>Truck driver killed in Mahoning crash<\/h3>\n<div id=\"native-ads-dfp\">\n<div class=\"row m-0 slotted-ad-unit slotted-ad-unit-desktop uk-artcl-1-desktop\">\n<div class=\"col-sm-12\">\n<div class=\"patch-ad-wrapper\">\n<p id=\"h0-p4\" class=\"permalinkable\">Smith Township, Ohio &#8212; A truck driver,<strong>\u00a0Brandon Fuller<\/strong>, 37, of Niles, was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vindy.com\/news\/2018\/oct\/08\/driver-of-tanker-truck-carrying-brine-ki\/\">killed in a crash<\/a> involving a pickup truck and commercial vehicle at about 9:30 p.m. Sunday on state Route 14 near Beloit-Snodes Road in Smith Township. Others involved in the crash were not seriously injured, according to officers.\u00a0 According to the patrol, a Chevrolet Silverado pulling a boat on a trailer failed to yield at the stop sign and was struck by the Mack truck carrying brine. The truck overturned in a ditch and the operator was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h3>Worker Killed While Painting North Druid Hills Road<\/h3>\n<p>DEKALB COUNTY, GA &#8212; A worker painting North Druid Hills Road was <a href=\"https:\/\/patch.com\/georgia\/brookhaven\/worker-killed-while-painting-north-druid-hills-road\">struck and killed by a vehicle<\/a> Saturday morning. Police said <strong>Roy Rowland<\/strong>, 56, was hit while he was painting the road for upcoming waterline repairs. Rowland was marking North Druid Hills Road near the intersection of Kittredge Park Drive near Target.
