LOUIS, IL \u2013 Two suspects are under arrest after a high-speed chase from Washington Park Illinois into East St. Louis on westbound I-64. KTVI-TV\u00a0reports around 5 p.m. Saturday, officers from the Washington Park Police Department were chasing two suspects in a vehicle when it struck two cars on the Poplar Street Bridge.\u00a0 The suspect vehicle stopped and the suspects fled on foot. An officer stopped and gave chase when he tried to jump from one bridge span to another thinking there was solid footing between the spans. <a href=\"https:\/\/fox4kc.com\/2018\/10\/28\/officer-dies-after-falling-off-on-ramp-to-poplar-street-bridge-during-struggle-with-2-suspects\/\">The officer fell an undetermined amount of feet<\/a> below to the ground, suffering fractures to his lower body.\u00a0 EMS personnel transported the officer to a St. Louis hospital for treatment, where he later died of his injuries. The officer has been identified as <strong>Auxiliary Police Officer Ricardo Davis<\/strong>, 44 years old.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"headline\">Truck driver killed in North City crash that left 2 dead, 6 kids injured identified<\/h3>\n<p>ST. LOUIS, MO &#8212; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kmov.com\/news\/truck-driver-killed-in-north-city-crash-that-left-dead\/article_527e85b0-d930-11e8-9f52-0fc768995efd.html\">Two adults were killed<\/a> and six children suffered serious injuries in an early-morning Friday crash.\u00a0\u00a0 Police say the investigation has shown a Nissan Armanda speeding south on Riverview, when the driver lost control. &#8220;It lost control, went up on the grassy median, went airborne and crashed head-on into a box truck going northbound,&#8221; said Lt. Paul Lauer of the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department. The driver of the roadside assistance box truck, later identified 63-year-old <strong>Rasim Mustedanagic<\/strong>, and the female passenger of the SUV were pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"headline\">Utah miner killed in Elko County underground mine collapse<\/h3>\n<p>ELKO, NV \u2013 A miner at Jerritt Canyon Gold\u2019s Lee Smith Mine north of Elko has <a href=\"https:\/\/elkodaily.com\/news\/local\/update-utah-miner-killed-in-elko-county-underground-mine-collapse\/article_3fb5eefc-768f-508b-a61d-9a0eeece734b.html\">died in a roof collapse<\/a> at the underground gold operation run by Small Mine Development. <strong>Jason Holman<\/strong>, 42, of Goshen, Utah, was killed Thursday evening, the company confirmed. \u201cJason was loading a round and was involved in a fall of ground near the end of his shift,\u201d Small Mine Development\u2019s general manager, Keith Jones, said on Oct. 26. According to U.S. Mine Safety and Health Administration\u2019s spokeswoman Amy Louviere, the miner was \u201cloading blast holes underground when the cemented backfill roof fell, causing fatal injuries. MSHA has inspectors at the mine site and has secured the scene.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h3 class=\"headline\">Construction worker killed in accident at school work site<\/h3>\n<div class=\"meta\">\n<p>CONCORD, Mass. (AP) \u2014 Authorities say a man doing construction work at a Massachusetts school has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernmassnews.com\/news\/massachusetts\/construction-worker-killed-in-accident-at-school-work-site\/article_5be80ef4-882a-521b-9180-2b9881b4807b.html\">died in an industrial accident<\/a>. Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Concord police Chief Joseph O&#8217;Connor say <strong>Daniel W. Adams<\/strong> was operating a boom truck at the Willard Elementary School on Wednesday afternoon when he was struck by the crane. The preliminary investigation shows that the man was outside of the vehicle when an apparent mechanical failure occurred, resulting in him being struck by the equipment.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h3 id=\"newsStoryTitle\">Wrightstown truck driver killed in I-94 crash in Racine County<\/h3>\n<div class=\"row storyItem\">\n<div class=\"col-sm-24\">\n<div id=\"articleBody\">\n<p><span id=\"dateline\">RACINE, Wis. (AP)<strong> &#8211;\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wbay.com\/content\/news\/Wrightstown-truck-driver-killed-in-I-94-crash-in-Racine-County-498607451.html\">fatal accident involving two semis<\/a> temporarily shut down all lanes of Interstate 41\/94 in Racine County. Sheriff&#8217;s officials say the crash about 3:30 a.m. Thursday happened when one semi was stopped on the interstate, possibly due to a flat tire. The other semi struck the first semi causing it to flip on its side. The driver of the second semi died at the scene of the crash. He is identified as 61-year-old <strong>Mark Gerard Verheyen<\/strong> from Wrightstown. The other driver was taken to a Racine hospital.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h3 class=\"title\">Dump truck driver killed in crash with Amtrak train<\/h3>\n<p><span class=\"dateline\">SUFFOLK, VA.\u00a0 &#8212;\u00a0<\/span>Officials say <a href=\"https:\/\/www.miamiherald.com\/news\/business\/article220667255.html\">a dump truck driver is dead<\/a> after a collision with an Amtrak train in Virginia. Suffolk police said in a statement Friday that the truck and train crashed in downtown Suffolk around 8 p.m. Thursday. Police say 61-year-old <strong>Karl Alexander Hill<\/strong> of Norfolk, the driver of the dump truck, was killed. Fire officials say the 60 passengers aboard the train were assessed and one man was taken to a local hospital with a minor injury.<\/p>\n<h3>Employee Dies At Ford Plant In Chicago Heights<\/h3>\n<p>CHICAGO HEIGHTS, IL \u2014 An employee of the Ford Motor Company Plant in Chicago Heights <a href=\"https:\/\/patch.com\/illinois\/chicagoheights\/employee-dies-ford-plant-chicago-heights\">died at the work site<\/a> Thursday morning. Chicago Heights police say <strong>James Chalmers<\/strong>, 48, of Chicago was found unresponsive on the ground next to a rear trash compactor with severe trauma to his chest area. Paramedics began life-saving efforts after they and police were called to the plant located at 1000 E. 14th St. in Chicago Heights at 6:45 a.m. Chalmers was pronounced dead at 7:10 a.m., according to police. He was working in the rear waste warehouse at the plant, police said.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"headline\">Three linemen killed by suspected drunk driver in Florida Panhandle<\/h3>\n<p>CHIPLEY, Fla.\u00a0&#8211; Three power workers were killed after they were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.actionnewsjax.com\/news\/local\/fhp-lineman-dead-after-hit-and-run-two-injured-near-chipley\/859272977\">struck by the driver of a Ford F-150<\/a>\u00a0towing a UHaul trailer\u00a0in Washington County, according to the\u00a0Florida Highway Patrol.\u00a0The crash occurred at 6:50 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of State Road 77 and Talton\u00a0Drive in\u00a0Chipley, a small town north of Panama City. Troopers said\u00a0the linemen were working on power poles in a\u00a0ditch. The power workers were in Chipley\u00a0working to restore electricity to the hard-hit Florida Panhandle after Hurricane Michael.\u00a0Troopers identified the deceased\u00a0as\u00a0<strong>George Cecil<\/strong>, 52, of Cole Rain, North Carolina, and\u00a0<strong>James Ussery,<\/strong>60, of Chipley, Florida. A third victim,\u00a0<strong>Ryan Barrett<\/strong>, 22,\u00a0of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, died of his injuries on Thursday afternoon. Cecil and Barrett were employees of Lee Electric in North Carolina, and Ussery\u00a0was an employee of West Florida electric.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"asset-headline speakable-headline\">Worker dies from injuries in Riverside Drive wreck that injured 3 on utility lift<\/h3>\n<p class=\"speakable-p-1 p-text\">Clarksville, TN &#8212; A worker who was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theleafchronicle.com\/story\/news\/local\/clarksville\/2018\/10\/25\/worker-dies-injuries-riverside-drive-wreck-injured-3\/1766220002\/\">on a\u00a0lift when it was hit by a truck<\/a>\u00a0on Riverside Drive Friday has died from his injuries. <strong>Robert Bartz<\/strong>, 43, died Thursday at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, according to Clarksville Police spokesman Jim Knoll. At about 11:37 a.m. Friday, Justin Clark, 31, was driving southbound on Riverside Drive, passing through a work zone, and for some reason\u00a0did not maintain the work zone travel pattern, Knoll said. His truck hit a stationary police cruiser and then two lifts carrying workers who were painting the\u00a0pedestrian overpass.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"entry-title\">CORONER IDENTIFIES WORKER FOUND DEAD IN ELEVATOR SHAFT<\/h3>\n<p>LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) \u2013 The Fayette County Coroner\u2019s Office says a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wtvq.com\/2018\/10\/26\/construction-worker-dies-falling-elevator-shaft-lexington\/\">worker was found dead in an elevator shaft<\/a> at a construction site in downtown Lexington Thursday.\u00a0The coroner says he is 38-year-old <strong>Travis Collins.<\/strong> The coroner was called to the site at 369 E. Main around 12 p.m. According to Fayette County Coroner Gary Ginn, the man was part of a construction crew installing HVAC systems on the roof. Ginn estimates the man fell 14-16 feet down the elevator shaft. Lt. Brandon\u00a0<span class=\"nanospell-typo\" data-cke-bogus=\"true\">Wooley<\/span>\u00a0said road workers were doing maintenance work in the area Wednesday on the highway, but the off-ramp was not completely closed. Wooley said a Big Sky Steel flatbed truck, driven by a 28-year-old Billings man, entered the construction zone from the eastbound lane and struck the worker.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"asset-headline speakable-headline\">UPS employee dies after being injured on the job, Lexington police say<\/h3>\n<p class=\"speakable-p-1 p-text\">Lexington, KY &#8212; A UPS employee in Lexington <a href=\"https:\/\/www.courier-journal.com\/story\/news\/2018\/10\/24\/kentucky-ups-employee-dies-work-lexington-police-say\/1748218002\/\">died Tuesday after being injured<\/a> while working. The incident happened just before noon Tuesday at 1800 Mercer Road, said Lexington Police spokesman Aaron Greenleaf.\u00a0 The UPS employee was doing maintenance on equipment when he was injured. He was taken to the hospital where he later died, Greenleaf said.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"headline\">Police identify man killed in Freeport work bus crash<\/h3>\n<div class=\"dateline\">FREEPORT, Texas (KTRK) &#8212; Freeport police have identified the <a href=\"https:\/\/abc13.com\/29-year-old-man-killed-in-freeport-work-bus-crash\/4543113\/\">man killed in a rollover bus crash<\/a> on Tuesday.<br \/>\nAuthorities say 29-year-old <strong>Aaron Green<\/strong>, of Dayton, was killed when the work bus flipped multiple times on Highway 36 in Freeport. Investigators say 48 year old <strong>Luciano Marbon<\/strong> of Grand Rapids,\u00a0was working on building renovation when he was hit by a large piece of falling wood.
