Shortly before 7 a.m., a firefighter saw the wrecked truck on I-77 southbound near Sunset Road, according to the state Highway Patrol. The firefighter looked inside and saw the two victims. The truck had apparently run off the right side of the highway and slammed into trees several hours earlier, according to Highway Patrol Trooper Ray Pierce. The Highway Patrol said the accident appears to be weather-related, noting that an early morning downpour left area highways covered in water.\u00a0The victims found along I-77 have been identified, but authorities are not releasing their names until their relatives are notified. They worked for Major Clean Inc., a private company that cleans parking lots for businesses, Pierce said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h3 class=\"entry-title\">VOSHA INVESTIGATING CRANE OPERATOR\u2019S DEATH AT WIND PROJECT<\/h3>\n<div class=\"post-info\"><span class=\"dropcap\">S<\/span>EARSBURG, VT\u2014 The Vermont Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating the Tuesday death of a man at the Deerfield Wind construction site. <strong>David Sprague<\/strong>, 59, of Windham, Maine, <a href=\"https:\/\/vtdigger.org\/2017\/04\/19\/1-dead-accident-deerfield-wind-site\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">was electrocuted<\/a> when the crane he was operating came into contact with high-tension power lines, according to Vermont State Police. He was pronounced dead at the Putnam Road site shortly after 11 a.m.<\/div>\n<h3 class=\"headline\">Pottery worker dies in accident at job<\/h3>\n<p>Marshall, LA &#8211; An autopsy has been ordered in the death of a 42-year-old Marshall Pottery supervisor who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.news-journal.com\/news\/2017\/apr\/21\/pottery-worker-dies-in-accident-at-job\/\">died on the job <\/a>this week in what&#8217;s being investigated as an industrial accident. Funeral services for <strong>Arturo Gonzalez<\/strong> of Marshall were Friday. Marshall Fire Chief Reggie Cooper said EMS units responded to Marshall Pottery to a report of a man who was stuck in a piece of equipment, possibly a kiln.<\/p>\n<h3 data-pb-field=\"customFields.web_headline\">Virginia man killed in industrial accident<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"clear\">BONSACK, Va. \u2014 Officials say a 53-year-old worker was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/local\/virginia-man-killed-in-industrial-accident\/2017\/04\/21\/01121578-26e6-11e7-928e-3624539060e8_story.html?utm_term=.60ca1cc996c9\">killed during a demolition project<\/a> in Roanoke County.\u00a0Concord-based W.E.L. Incorporated said in a statement that 53-year-old <strong>Charles McFadden<\/strong> of Appomattox was working on the project in Bonsack Thursday when he was killed in what the company called \u201can unfortunate, and tragic, industrial accident.\u201d<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<h3 id=\"newsStoryTitle\">Passengers recovering after deadly crash involving taxi cab on Wrightsboro Road<\/h3>\n<p>COLUMBIA COUNTY, Ga. \u00a0&#8212; The passengers of the taxi cab involved in a<a href=\"http:\/\/www.wrdw.com\/content\/news\/Crash-with-injuries-reported-at-intersection-of-Wrightsboro-and-Hamilton-Roads-419985984.html\"> deadly crash<\/a> on Wrightsboro Road are recovering in the hospital. Axel McLean and Irene Cangelosi were transported to Augusta University Medical Center for treatment. McLean is listed in good condition, and Cangelosi is listed in fair condition.The Columbia County Sheriff&#8217;s Office said the taxi driver, <strong>Monika Christa Lowe,<\/strong> died in the crash. Abraham Mohammad Mazhar was charged with failure to yield while turning left, vehicular homicide in the second degree, and marijuana possession Thursday and booked into jail.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"headline\">Semi-Trailer Driver Dead in I-88 Shooting Near York<\/h3>\n<p class=\"paragraph\" data-pnum=\"1\">York, IL &#8212; A semi-trailer driver was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nbcchicago.com\/news\/local\/Police-Investigate-Possible-Shooting-on-I-88-420125573.html#ixzz4f7aZ4DmA\">shot on I-88<\/a> near York Friday afternoon [April 21] \u00a0and later died at the hospital, Illinois State Police confirmed. Police were investigating near York at milepost 138.5, police said. \u00a0One car and a red Volvo semi-truck were traveling eastbound about 4:05 p.m., police said. A man in the car shot &#8220;for unknown reasons&#8221; into the semi-truck driven by 43-year-old <strong>Eduardo Munoz<\/strong>, of Sunrise, Florida, police said. The Oak Brook Fire Department arrived on the scene and took Munoz to Elmhurst Hospital where he later died, police said.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"headline\">Two Killed While Working in St. Louis Neighborhood<\/h3>\n<p>ST. LOUIS, MO &#8211; Two utility workers are dead, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ozarksfirst.com\/news\/two-killed-while-working-in-st-louis-neighborhood\/695237365\">after being shot to death <\/a>late Thursday morning [April 20] while working in a residential neighborhood. The incident happened in the Hamilton Heights neighborhood in north St. Louis, when a gunman opened fire on two Laclede Gas Company employees. St. Louis Police say the two employees were conducting utility work in the 5900 block of Minerva. Both employees were killed in the gunfire.\u00a0The victims were <a href=\"http:\/\/www.stltoday.com\/news\/local\/crime-and-courts\/laclede-gas-shooting-victims-were-outdoorsman-family-man-killer-had\/article_b56eac4d-cbc6-5a7f-9214-e63d5ab6c337.html\">identified<\/a> Friday as<strong> Alex Boschert<\/strong>, 27, of St. Charles County and <strong>William Froelich,<\/strong> 52, of Jefferson County. Boschert was remembered as an outdoorsman and Froelich as a family man.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"headline\">TRUCK DRIVER KILLED BY CRANE AT PORT OF HOUSTON<\/h3>\n<p>Houston, TX &#8212; The Barbers Cut Terminal at the Port of Houston closed for business after a <a href=\"http:\/\/abc13.com\/news\/crane-kills-worker-at-port-of-houston\/1896919\/\">truck driver was stuck and killed by a crane<\/a> Thursday afternoon, according to police. \u00a0A man died after he was hit with a rubber tyred gantry crane between 1:30 p.m. and 2 p.m., said Port of Houston communications manager Lisa Ashley.\u00a0The man was outside of his truck when the crane struck him, police say. The type of crane that killed the man operates inside the container, it&#8217;s not the same as the cranes that operate the ship vessels, noted Ashley.<\/p>\n<h3>Tractor driver killed in collision with train<\/h3>\n<p><span class=\"dateline\">NEAR KEYTESVILLE, Mo. \u2014\u00a0<\/span>A northeast Missouri man was killed Thursday afternoon when the farm tractor he was driving was hit by a train. That fatal accident happened at 2:30 p.m. at Cal Hubbard Avenue, three-and-a-half miles east of Keytesville. The Missouri State Highway Patrol says <strong>William Thomson,<\/strong> 36, of Salisbury, Missouri, was driving a farm tractor when he failed to yield at a railroad crossing and was struck by the train.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"asset-headline\">Tractor incident at berry farm kills man in Somis<\/h3>\n<p>Somis, CA &#8212; The Ventura County Medical Examiner&#8217;s Office identified on Friday a worker who was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vcstar.com\/story\/news\/2017\/04\/21\/officials-identify-worker-who-died-somis-farm-accident\/100751054\/\">killed in a Somis farming accident<\/a> a day earlier as<strong> Jose Lopez Lopez,<\/strong> 27, of Oxnard. Lopez died from blunt-force head injuries in the accident, the agency said.\u00a0Lopez&#8217;s death was reported to authorities just after 9 a.m. Thursday at a berry farm in the 1000 block of West La Loma Avenue after his body was found underneath irrigation equipment he&#8217;d been towing with a tractor. \u00a0Ventura County Fire Department paramedics pronounced Lopez dead at the scene, said Steve Swindle, a spokesman for the department. The victim was identified as<strong> Dakota Marshall,<\/strong> 21, of Ford City. A neighbor on Morewood Avenue said masons were working on the home&#8217;s chimney, which is next to power lines.\u00a0The scaffolding was so close to the electrical lines that Duquesne Light crews had to be called in to remove the scaffolding.<\/p>\n<section id=\"module-position-P5aC47g92FA\" class=\"storytopbar-bucket story-headline-module story-story-headline-module\">\n<h3 class=\"asset-headline\">Man Fatally Injured in Well Tank Explosion Identified<\/h3>\n<\/section>\n<p>MANSFIELD, La. (AP) \u2014 A man <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usnews.com\/news\/best-states\/texas\/articles\/2017-04-19\/man-killed-in-well-tank-explosion-identified\">fatally injured in a well tank explosion<\/a> in DeSoto Parish has been identified. The Times reports the accident happened around 11:46 a.m. Tuesday [April 18] \u00a0in Mansfield. Authorities said a crew was working on the site, operated by Dallas-based Aethon Energy, to clean damage caused during a recent storm when one of the tanks on the site exploded, causing injuries to three of the crew members. In a statement Wednesday, Aethon Energy Co-President and partner Gordon Huddleston described the accident as &#8220;tragic&#8221; and said it occurred &#8220;while a contractor&#8217;s workers dismantled a tank.&#8221; The man who died was identified late Tuesday as<strong> Camron Anthony Hernandez<\/strong> of Diana, Texas, an unincorporated community in Upshur County. He was pronounced dead at DeSoto Regional Hospital. Two others were treated for moderate and minor injuries. Their names have not been released.<\/p>\n<\/header>\n<header class=\"asset-header\">\n<h3 class=\"asset-headline\">Fatal Lewiston construction accident<\/h3>\n<p>LEWISTON, N.Y. &#8212; A man was killed after working with construction equipment at St. Peter&#8217;s School Tuesday afternoon, Lewiston Police say.\u00a0Police say <strong>Timothy Zayac,<\/strong> 57, of Lockport, was working on a lift in the eaves area of the building at 140 N. 6th Street around 1:50 p.m., when he became t<a href=\"http:\/\/www.wgrz.com\/news\/local\/man-killed-in-lewiston-construction-accident\/432255504\">rapped between the lift and the building<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Worker fatally struck by falling tree on Independence Avenue near U.S. Capitol<\/h3>\n<p>Washington DC &#8212; A man doing work on the grounds of the U.S. Capitol was killed Tuesday morning when a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/local\/public-safety\/pedestrian-critically-injured-when-tree-falls-on-independence-avenue-near-capitol\/2017\/04\/18\/e03d1174-243b-11e7-bb9d-8cd6118e1409_story.html?utm_term=.45ac1eda0207\">large portion of a tree fell on him<\/a>, officials said. According to a news release, 52-year-old <strong>Kathleen Louise Lee<\/strong> of Troy was killed at a work site on Interstate 90 near Livingston on Monday afternoon. A driver at the site was backing up a vehicle and struck Lee, according to the sheriff\u2019s office. While authorities said it appears to be a \u201cterrible accident,\u201d the Park County Sheriff\u2019s Office is still investigating.<\/p>\n<h3>Okla. deputy fatally shot, suspect arrested after fleeing in police car<\/h3>\n<p>LOGAN COUNTY, Okla. \u2014 A suspect is in custody after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.policeone.com\/Officer-Safety\/articles\/327405006-Okla-deputy-fatally-shot-suspect-arrested-after-fleeing-in-police-car\/\">fatally shooting a deputy <\/a>Tuesday morning [April 18].\u00a0According to KOCO, <strong>Deputy David Wade<\/strong>, 40, was serving an eviction notice when Nathan Aaron LeForce, 45, opened fire. Officials told <a href=\"http:\/\/News9Okla.com\" class=\"autohyperlink\">News9Okla.com<\/a> that Wade was able to return fire, but didn\u2019t clarify if LeForce was hit.\u00a0Wade was transported to a local hospital with three gunshot wounds, including one to the face. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"entry-title\">Man dies after being shocked while cutting tree branches in\u00a0Chesapeake<\/h3>\n<p>CHESAPEAKE, Va. &#8211; A 39-year-old man who was <a href=\"http:\/\/wtkr.com\/2017\/04\/17\/man-shocked-while-cutting-tree-branches-in-chesapeake\/\">shocked\u00a0while trimming trees<\/a> at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens on 3920 Airline Boulevard has died as a result of his injuries. Police have identified the victim as <strong>Muhammad Abdur-Raheem<\/strong> of Newport News. When emergency crews arrived, they saw Abdur-Raheem suspended in a\u00a0tree. Officials say he hit a power line while cutting a tree and was shocked. The 39-year-old was taken to Maryview Medical Center with life threatening injuries where he later died. \u00a0Lucas Tree Experts confirms with News 3 the man worked for the company just over a year and came in with six years of experience. The company says he was a good employee.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h3>Worker dies when tree topples<\/h3>\n<div class=\"article-content\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Sonora, CA &#8212; A tree worker from Washington <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uniondemocrat.com\/localnews\/5239508-151\/worker-dies-when-tree-topples\">died Saturday<\/a> [April 15] near Cedar Springs Road in Twain Harte after the ponderosa pine he was working on unexpectedly fell.The man was identified by as <strong>Jorge Garcia Moctezuma<\/strong>, 21, a Tuolumne County Sheriff\u2019s Office news release stated.\u00a0Moctezuma was an employee of Action Trees, a Kentucky company contracted by Trees Inc. and PG&amp;E. Moctezuma was working on a 100-foot pine tree and had cut a 20-foot section from the top. When the cut piece came down, it swung back and forth and caused the tree that Moctezuma was on to break below him. The tree fell to the ground with Moctezuma on it. It also knocked down live power lines.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h3>2 men wanted after Detroit limo driver robbed, shot to death<\/h3>\n<p>DETROIT, MI- Detroit <span class=\"vm-hook-outer vm-hook-default\"><span class=\"vm-hook\">police<\/span><\/span> continue the search for two men wanted for the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fox2detroit.com\/news\/local-news\/248931029-story\">robbery and murder of a limo driver<\/a>. The shooting happened in the 2900 block of W Warren around 3:10 a.m. Saturday [April 15]. Police say two suspects approached 44-year-old <strong>Devin Lowe<\/strong> while he was in his limo and robbed him at gunpoint, then shot him several times. The suspects fled from the <span class=\"vm-hook-outer vm-hook-default\"><span class=\"vm-hook\">scene<\/span><\/span> in an unknown direction.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"dateline\">SECURITY GUARD SHOT TO DEATH WHILE ON THE JOB IN NORTHWEST FRESNO<\/h3>\n<div class=\"dateline\">FRESNO, California \u00a0&#8212; Security guard, retail store manager, and now murder victim. <strong>Carl Williams<\/strong>, 25-year-old, was identified by his coworkers as the <a href=\"http:\/\/abc30.com\/news\/security-guard-shot-to-death-while-on-the-job-in-northwest-fresno\/1872867\/\">man killed Thursday night<\/a>. \u00a0&#8220;I&#8217;ve really got to know Carl and he was a class act&#8211; there was no other way to put it,&#8221; said Robert Sanchez, coworker. \u00a0The night of Williams&#8217; murder company leaders said he was working at the Motel 6 to assist another officer&#8211; one of several locations he managed. \u00a0Fresno Police said a couple who were not following the rules of the motel got into a fight with two security guards. The suspect shot Williams multiple times and killed him and police said that man is still on the run.<\/div>\n<div class=\"dateline\">\n<h3>Emerson-Fisher employee killed in work accident<\/h3>\n<p>Marshalltown, IA &#8212; An Emerson Process Management-Fisher Controls official confirmed Monday [April 17] that a Marshalltown man <a href=\"http:\/\/www.timesrepublican.com\/news\/todays-news\/2017\/04\/emerson-fisher-employee-killed-in-work-accident\/\">died last week<\/a> due to a fatal work accident. Employee<strong> Craig Petersen<\/strong>, 61, died Thursday, after being injured in an accident.
