LIVE OAK, FL — A construction worker, who suffered serious injuries after a fall from the back of a truck on Interstate 10 on Tuesday, died from his injuries. The Florida Highway Patrol released Saturday that 43-year-old Zachariah Stinson, of Pace, died Thursday from the injuries he suffered around 10 a.m. Tuesday. According to FHP, a SICE construction work truck was stopped on the south shoulder of I-10 at the eastbound at mile marker 286, just past the U.S. 129 exit to pick up a foldable construction sign. The report states that Stinson removed the sign and placed it in the back of the 2018 Ford F250. Stinson then sat on the tailgate to move to the next location. According to the report, the driver of the truck, Richard Mann, 51, of Jacksonville, accelerated attempting to merge into the outside travel lane. When the vehicle accelerated, Stinson fell off the tailgate and struck his head on the paved shoulder, the report states.
